Other outlets are reporting that we did agree to allow the strikes and don't want to tell Russia through the press. I suppose that we will find out soon enough.

Broe at 06:00 believes the White House is waiting on the new Iranian Fath 360 intermediate missiles to be brought within reach of the longer-ranged ATACMS. The Fath only has a 175km range, so to fire them the Russians will be well within the 300km range ATACMS.
This strategy is to demonstrate to the whole world that this escalation is the fault of the Russians and to defend the Ukrainian civilian population. All of the NATO and Congressional meetings last week were to obtain direct agreement with this missile's deployment. Everyone had to sign as being on board.
Of course, once the long range ATACMS is used, it's use against other Russian targets will follow.

Most recent maps show Russia moving forward all across the frontline. ukraine now fears they may be encircled in Prkrovsk while zelensky demands they stay. Bold strategy lets see how it plays out.
Meanwhile getting pushed back in the piney woods in Russia as well. What a waste of critical resources for a political stunt while your center is getting destroyed.
If the US offers those missiles it is clear to everyone we have declared war on Russia and may we be saved from this nonsense somehow.
How on earth could we put the lives of 330 million Americans at risk over a corrupt piece of garbage country.

Maybe Russia doesn't actually have the nuclear capability to do shite?

Trump's plan to end the war may include the creation of a "demilitarised zone" on the Ukrainian territories occupied by russia. Meanwhile, Ukraine would have to give up its NATO membership

Why would Putin feel the need to articulate these “lines in the sand” if U.S./NATO hasn’t been encroaching on Russia?

Russia is pouring everything that they've got into taking as much territory as possible before the mud season and the US presidential election. Their losses in personnel and equipment will set up Ukraine for offensive action next year.

We should just surrender to Russia right now. Better Red than Dead!

That would be smart. Never thought I'd use the word smart for anything the Biden administration has touched.

Love to hear it the so-called Russian Kursk counter offensive is according to the Russians now on the brink of being operationally encircled by the Ukrainians
"Now he has already consolidated his position there and tomorrow, he will definitely try to deliver his decisive blow to us. I think, to the Glushkovo railway station. And if he simultaneously manages to create a strike group (and there is such information that he is creating one) in the Olgovka area and manages to cut off our communications south of Korenevo, then our entire attack group may find itself in operational encirclement."

Ukrainian Defense Forces Achieve New Breakthrough in Kursk Oblast
The Ukrainian Defense Forces have made a breakthrough in a new section of the frontline in the Kursk oblast.
The corresponding video was published by the press service of the Khorne Group unit of the 116th Separate Mechanized Brigade.
The breakthrough of the Russian border occurred in the area towards the village of Vesele.
Due to engineering reconnaissance, the offensive routes were prepared, allowing the troops to cross the border unhindered and safely continue to move through enemy territory.
A new border breakthrough took place at coordinates 51.270750, 34.548833, where the Ukrainian military did not encounter strong enemy resistance and were able to advance significantly deeper into enemy territory.
According to the unit reports, a Russian group of thousands is at risk of being surrounded, potentially increasing the number of POWs for future exchanges.
“We have entered a new place, kilometers into Russia… a group of Russian conscripts numbering at least a thousand people is under the threat of encirclement,” the Khorne Group said.
Due to the well-planned operation and rapid pace of the Ukrainian offensive in different areas of the Kursk oblast, the enemy was unable to organize a defense.

You really shouldn't pay attention to MacGregor and Ritter.

Ukraine continues to send its men into a meat grinder and punish those who disobey orders while trying to save their men.

I believe that the day in that Khorne Group video was five days ago. It's very hard to know what's going on due to OPSEC, but here's my best attempt. I don't have time to go read a bunch of Russian Telegram posts to dig deep.
Six days ago, Russia launched a big counterattack out of Korenevo, as shown here on Andrew's map with red arrows. They pushed Ukraine back from the northeastern outskirts of Korenevo and simultaneously drove south, unblocking the river and taking Snagost.
They then pushed east, attacking Liubimovka (my orange arrow) and almost taking it, before getting pushed back to Snagost. In the process, Russia significantly extended its logistical chain and lost a lot of men and equipment.
A day after the Russian counterattack (so, five days ago), Ukraine broke through the border further west and then pushed east and north towards Glushkovo. At first, we didn't know how large that grouping was, but the video from the Khorne Group indicates that it was two battalions -- much larger than was assumed.
What I don't know is the immediate objective of the new Ukrainian breakthrough. Is it to take Glushkovo and then push west along the river, trapping Russians as they go?
Or is it to push to the river and then swing east, trapping the Russian troops in Snagost in a pocket?
I've read things that have indicated both of those options, so I don't know.
All I know is that, in the last 24 hours, we've started to see worried messages from Russian milbloggers and gloating ones from Ukrainian commentators.

Some more granular detail on the new Ukrainian incursion:
Ukraine broke through the old border crossing at Novi Put. Part of that group then pushed east along the road and took Medvezhe, while another part went north and took Obukovka (and likely has completed the taking of Veseloe, though we lack confirmation of that).
The towns in red were held by Ukraine until the Russian counterattack six days ago.
Remember that the bridge at Glushkovo does not exist.

Key Takeaways:
Ukrainian officials and sources indicated that Ukraine's incursion into Kursk Oblast has prompted the Russian authorities to increase the size of the Russian force grouping in Kursk Oblast by upwards of a factor of three.
Ukraine and Russia conducted a prisoner of war (POW) exchange on September 14 — the third POW exchange since the Ukrainian incursion into Kursk Oblast, which appears to have generated the short-term effect of increasing incentives for Russia to engage in POW exchanges.
Some Russian field commanders continue to make decisions that degrade the overall quality of their subordinate forces—prioritizing infantry-led frontal assault tactics over cultivating technical specialists who would allow the Russian military to better field technologies and innovations in combat operations.
The Kremlin continues efforts to leverage global informational instruments of influence to develop new capabilities to conduct election interference, destabilization measures, and sanctions evasion schemes.
Officials of Georgia’s ruling Georgia Dream party continue to elevate narratives echoing Kremlin information operations justifying Russia’s occupation of internationally recognized Georgian territories.
Ukrainian forces continued to advance in Glushkovsky Raion and Russian forces recently regained territory near Korenevo and Sudzha.
Russian forces recently advanced near Chasiv Yar, Pokrovsk, and Vuhledar.
Russian forces are reportedly repairing captured Soviet-era Ukrainian equipment to replenish Russian vehicle stocks.
