To those wondering how we would defend against Russian missiles? Have yall forgotten about the THAADs we have deployed in strategic locations around the globe? Also have yall forgotten that the Patriot missiles in Ukraine have already proven that they can intercept hypersonic missiles?
Don't forget Aegis systems which are much better than Patriot, but ship mounted.
Russia doesn't have a true hypersonic missile. It has a ballistic missile which a guidance system to change course near termination point.

Are you s sports handicapper or a financial planner? You seem to have s as unique ability to predict the future. How did hoh know I wasn’t volunteering? Now go back to being unconcerned.
I’m neither.
But I have common sense, and an uncanny sense to detect a bullshitter.
A suburban commando like you would NEVER hop over to Ukraine and ask for a rifle. You’d rather someone else or their kids go.
Go back to playing Call of Duty. You’ve been dismissed, Colonel.

The US and Russia were pushed to the brink because Russia was placing offensive missiles in Cuba. We couldn’t tolerate that.
The US couldn't tolerate a foreign power interfering with a 2nd or 3rd world country essentially on your border? What situation does that sound like?
It was actually the Turkey Missile Crisis. You see we placed them in Turkey which predicated Russia placing them in Cuba. We blinked, held a big presser about Russia removing theirs, while we slinked over to Turkey with our tail between our legs and removed ours.
This time, since its Ukrainians dying, and we can get kickbacks, we really dont give a shite as long as the MIC is fed.

Ok, so suburban commandos like myself who support Ukraine wouldn’t go, so who would? Urban commandos? Suburban peaceniks? Urban peaceniks? Who do you think is hopping on a plane to go to Ukraine?
Let me ask you. You say you don’t care at all, fine; but why are you so upset that others do? Are you made because they don’t like Putin and Russia as you do?

Key Takeaways:
Several Russian financial, economic, and military indicators suggest that Russia is preparing for a large-scale conventional conflict with NATO, not imminently but likely on a shorter timeline than what some Western analysts have initially posited.
The Russian military continues to undertake structural reforms to simultaneously support the war in Ukraine while expanding Russia’s conventional capabilities in the long term in preparation for a potential future large-scale conflict with NATO.
GUR reportedly conducted a drone strike against a Russian air base in Saratov Oblast on March 20 amid further indications that Ukrainian drone strikes within Russia are achieving limited asymmetric effects against Russian military assets and economic output.
Kremlin-affiliated actors in the pro-Russian Moldovan autonomous region of Gagauzia are invoking narratives that mirror previous Russian claims about Ukraine in the years leading up to Russia’s 2022 full-scale invasion of Ukraine, likely as part of the Kremlin’s wider hybrid efforts to destabilize Moldova.
Russian forces recently made confirmed advances near Kreminna and Donetsk City on March 20.
The Russian military continues to train drone operators for operations in Ukraine.

If all the posts by people who "don't care" disappeared this thread would be 1000 pages shorter.

You’re right, Colonel. I don’t care.
There are people dying every day in various parts of Africa or Haiti, do you concern yourself with them? Nope. Do others? Nope. Read the board, if it’s discussed at all it’s jokes aimed at a guy named Barbecue taking power and cooking people on a Big Green Egg.
They could redraw the borders tomorrow and make Ukraine disappear from the map…it won’t affect your or my daily life one iota. If you didn’t flip on the news you’d never know it happened.
Am I upset that some here “care”? Not in the slightest. In fact, it’s a bit humorous reading some of the comments posted. All of the gung ho group, willing to risk nuclear war (accidental or purposeful), just so they can get their jollies playing Risk.
Do I “like Putin and Russia”? Don’t like them, don’t dislike them. What Putin/Russia does or doesn’t do has no effect on my daily life, or yours.
We’ve committed/spent/wasted billions of dollars on Ukraine. The government there was corrupt several years ago, and under the leadership of the tee shirt wearing comedian they’re still corrupt. And if somehow Ukraine pulled a rabbit out of Zelensky’s keister and Russia withdrew, we’d be pumping billions more into their rebuild.
In case you haven’t noticed, we’re going broke. Yet we can somehow pay pensions, salaries and benefits for Ukrainian government workers while we have vets needing help.
Thats right, the vets. The guys/gals who’ve been at war since 2001, and are still at war, still dying.
Go back to your video game, Colonel.

Because he is exactly the same as the ultra-liberals he rages about, he's just the other side of the same coin.
Just like the liberals, people like him want to control what you think and if you disagree with him, he calls you bad names.

And Khrushchev's reward for embarrassing the US in this "Turkey Missle Crisis" was... Removal from power...? Makes total sense.

The ISW is a private organization and as such has refused any and all government funding, instead relying on donations to keep the think-tank operational. This includes substantial backing from several corporations. Some notable past and present corporate supporters include: Cushman & Wakefield, Alvarez and Marsal, Russell Reynolds Associates, Lincolnshire Management, Raytheon, Microsoft, Palantir, General Motors, General Dynamics, and Kirkland & Ellis.

INTELLIGENCE UPDATE
UPDATE ON UKRAINE 21 March 2024
Russian forces continue to focus operations in Donetsk Oblast, eastern Ukraine, making minor gains. They have attempted to expand areas of control north-west of Donetsk city and are highly likely contesting a string of villages including Orlivka, Tonenke, Pervomaiske, and Nevelske.
Russian advances have slowed in recent weeks, likely partially due to heavy losses sustained in the Avdiivka campaign. The situation remains unstable, with Ukrainian shortages of personnel and munitions likely limiting their ability to hold positions.
