Pretty sad seeing how he has fallen. Apparently, inability to work with others denied promotion to a general and now a nobody outside the nutter world. Being bitter sucks

Seeing someone so astoundingly in the tank for a foreign country raises a lot of questions, especially when that foreign country is Russia.
MacGregor was claiming total Russian victory before they'd even gotten the meme convoy out of Belarus. Everything he says has the undertones of: "Don't send weapons to Ukraine!"

For those not keeping track of the political struggle:
The US Senate just invoked cloture on the bill to aid Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan, with 67 votes in favor. It should pass the full Senate on or about Tuesday and get sent to the House.
I don't think that Speaker Johnson will allow the bill to get reported out of committee for a vote before the full House. If not, though, it will likely happen via a discharge petition (though that process does take at least 30 days).
It remains highly likely that a significant aid package will pass the Congress in the next 45 days.
By the way, in the bill's current form, 75% of the appropriated money goes to Americans, and a full 60% of it goes to American weapons manufacturers to make new weapons for the US military to replace older equipment that we would be sending to Ukraine/Israel/Taiwan.

It’s just about time to pull out of Avdiivka in my opinion. They butchered plenty of Russians there already, especially equipment, but they are low on artillery shells, mortars and heavy machine gun ammunition. Their last supply road is also about to be pinched off. I’d rather they pull back and save Ukrainian soldiers lives than have another Bakhmut over a town that doesn’t even exist anymore. We know Russia doesn’t give a shite about its troops, they leave them laying on the battlefield. Pull back and let the idiots have their town of rubble and dig in to a favorable defensible position that makes Russia cross minefields and attack fortified trenches. Basically they need to buy time and that’s the best way I can see. If they do nothing else at least pull the 47th Mechanized Brigade out with all their Bradleys.

It is probably incumbent on me to point out MacGregor was an excellent soldier. Arguably one of the best Armor officers in modern US history. He did however become "odd" after he got passed over repeatedly for brigade command. Bitter and possibly rightfully so. By 2012 he was espousing ideas I still think are mad. He wanted to get rid of the Marines and the XVIII Airborne Corps. It is hard to imagine the US without the tool kit the crayon eaters bring and while airborne troops aren't needed every day they proved useful for the US twice in 2003. I get he is a tanker at heart and every officer probably has an outsized opinion of his branch but the 82nd and it support units that form the XVIII Corps aren't just chute jockeys they are the best large unit light infantry on the planet. Jumping out of planes is just one more tool in their kit. The 82nd has a very high percentage of tabbed Rangers especially among the officers and the esprit de corp the Airborne tab brings to the unit should not be underestimated.
When he started appearing on Russian State TV in 2014 it became clear where his sympathy really was. He simply became a Russophile.

Major General Benedict Arnold was also an excellent soldier, and an American hero of the Battle of Saratoga ... until he wasn't.

Sad day in aviation history. The A-10 has been such an absolute workhorse. Their group of pilots are fierce about them. Can’t tell then there has ever been a better aircraft. Hopefully we have another 7-10 years with a smaller number of aircraft. The f-35 has great potential but as far as for helping troops in contact there’s not much else those guys like to gear more than BRRRRRRRTT!!

Reportedly, 3rd hand from me, he was a prima donna when in Europe. No other considerations but his should be implemented was his M.O.

And, as I pointed out, the bill would then pass anyway due to a discharge petition.
Johnson will ultimately fail in any attempt to prevent a vote. If it happens due to a discharge petition, that simply makes him look weak and ineffectual. On the other hand, if he does schedule a vote, the "Russia First" caucus will howl and scream and try to take away his speakership.
He's in a bad situation, but I don't see a way out for him. Maybe there's a committee he can assign the bill to that would be able to amend it and provide him some cover.

INTELLIGENCE UPDATE
UPDATE ON UKRAINE 12 February 2024
In February 2024 a new military research institute was established at the Moscow Higher School of Economics (HSE). The Institute of World Military Economics and Strategy as it is known was set-up by the hard-line political scientist, Sergey Karaganov. It will be headed by Admiral Sergey Avakyants, former commander of the Pacific Fleet, who was relieved of command in April 2023. Avakyants believes Russia is in a state of long-term confrontation with the West.
The new institute will cover politics and economics but will focus on the Military Industrial Complex of foreign nations. It will also focus on the study of strategic deterrence and the role of nuclear weapons.
It has been proposed that the employees of the institute will be mainly recruited from the various faculties of the HSE. It will also invite researchers from various military academies such as the Russian General Staff Academy. This will highly likely lead to closer interaction between Russian academia and the defence sector, boosting the militarisation of higher education.

WeeWee speaks,
I still dont understand why some Americans can justify sending billions to be laundered in ukraine.
Europe is so worried about Russia that they are granting 17 billion.....over 4 years, and loaning 33 billion over 4 years.
By comparison WW2 cost 4 trillion. Now I ask you, does it look like Europe is scared of being overrun by Russia, or just token dollars to save face in ukraine. All the while screaming that the US promised money that has not been delivered?
That settles the issue of whether WW3 is looming. So is it humanitarian? If so 9 million people have been displaced in Sudan, another 1.7 million in the Dem Rep Congo, millions suffering in Burma (no I dont recognize that other name, before some smartarse responds). They are sovereign countries, do we not care about them, why?
So why is the US there? I never get a valid answer just people showing their wee wee

If you believe we should provide more aid to African nations fine, but this thread is about the Ukraine War.

You won't find a better analysis of Putin's "historical" claim that Ukraine is a part of Russia.

Tucker Carlson’s interview with Vladimir Putin reveals much more than the foolishness of fascism. It offers us a view into the mechanism of how genocide is justified.
