Armen Gasparyan, who hosts his own show on Vladimir Solovyov's channel, gloated over Russia's massive missile attack against Ukraine. He said that Ukrainians are not people and berated them as millions of villagers, all of whom were "born without brains."

ISW Update

quote:

Key Takeaways:

Russian forces conducted the largest series of missile and drone strikes against Ukraine since the start of the full-scale invasion on the morning of December 29.

The strike package that Russian forces launched on December 29 appears to be a culmination of several months of Russian experimentation with various drone and missile combinations and efforts to test Ukrainian air defenses.

Russia will continue to conduct strikes against Ukraine at scale in an effort to degrade Ukrainian morale and Ukraine’s ability to sustain its war effort against Russia.

Current Russian missile and drone reserves and production rates likely do not allow Russian forces to conduct regular large-scale missile strikes, but likely do allow for more consistent drone strikes, which can explain the recent pattern of Russian strike packages.

The Kremlin's efforts to sufficiently mobilize Russia's defense industrial base (DIB) in support of its wartime objectives, including large-scale strike series, may been more successful than Western officials previously assessed due in part to Russia’s ability to procure military equipment from its partners and the redistribution of Russia’s resources for military production purposes.

Russian forces have likely routinely attempted to draw and fix limited Ukrainian air defense systems away from the front, and the Russian strikes on December 29 follow recent indications that Ukrainian air defenses may be presenting significant challenges to Russian aviation operations along the frontline.

Western aid remains vital for Ukraine’s ability to defend against Russian strikes, and the end of such aid would likely set conditions for an expanded Russian air campaign In Ukraine.

Western leaders largely viewed the massive Russian strike as evidence that Putin’s maximalist goals in Ukraine remain unchanged, in line with ISW’s long-standing assessment that Putin is not genuinely interested in a ceasefire or any sort of negotiated settlement in Ukraine.

Russian forces made recent confirmed advances northeast of Bakhmut and south of Avdiivka as positional engagements continued across the entire line of contact.

The Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) announced on December 29 that it has completed Russia’s autumn 2023 conscription cycle, which began on October 1.

Russia continues the forced integration of occupied areas of Ukraine into the Russian system using social services and infrastructure restoration projects.

Putin may be an a-hole but he's not retarded. No matter how strong Ukrainian will is they can't win this war without western aid. And the more images of blown up maternity wards, kindergartens and orphanages hit the airwaves the easier it is for western governments to give aid to the Ukrainians.

I would agree if Russia hadn’t been hitting civilians with missiles since the start of the war and most of the targets could not be mistaken for military.

In other news, Zelensky continues to show visits troops 1-2 km away from the frontline in Avdiivka. Would Putin have the balls to attempt something similar? I think not.

People are so easy to manipulate and fool. For every one person you educate online in a message board there are 20000 others out there that aren't. It is pointless to even try.

Well here in the good ol' USA, many military bases, weapon plants, repair facilities are surrounded by civilians - homes, businesses, busy streets....

1) I think Russia just misses a lot

2) I think the Ukrainian government lies a lot about what is hit. I don't blame them. It gets them a lot of international support. But if those reports are to be believed then there shouldn't be a single pre school or maternity ward left in the country at the rate the Russians have been wasting expensive precision munitions on them.

I mean it's incredibly lucky for the Ukrainians that the Russians always seem to be so inept when it comes to bombing military targets yet can hit a nursery full of cancer babies and nuns with 100% success rate.

Actually the Ukrainians shoot down 100% of Russian missiles and drones. We read about it here daily. 50 of 50, 120 of 120.

Somehow the hospitals, schools, churches and apartments get blown to bits though.

Zelensky has to keep showing his face in the danger zones. It’s something of a wartime tradition for leaders to show up at the forward deployed units but obviously Putin doesn’t give a shite about his soldiers or officers and he’s too much of a pussy anyway to get anywhere near the front. Since this war started I believe the closest he’s been to Ukraine is southern Crimea for all of 1 day. Things are tough for Ukraine at the moment, he needs to be seen more than usual for morale. Zelensky looked exhausted to me in that clip though and so did Zaluzhny in his last interview, 2 years of the worst fighting since WW2 can do that I’m sure.

British Defence Intelligence
INTELLIGENCE UPDATE
UPDATE ON UKRAINE
30 December 2023

During the course of 2023, the average daily number of Russian casualties (killed and wounded) in Ukraine has risen by almost 300 per day compared to 2022.

The increase in daily averages, as reported by the Ukrainian authorities, almost certainly reflects the degradation of Russia's forces and its transition to a lower quality, high quantity mass army since the 'partial mobilisation' of reservists in September 2022. It will likely take Russia five to ten years to rebuild a cohort of highly trained and experienced military units.

If casualties continue at the current rate through the next year, by 2025 Russia will have sustained over half a million personnel killed and wounded over three years of war. This is compared to the Soviet Union's 70,000 casualties in the nine-year Soviet-Afghan War.

I don’t know why I poked my head in here but I’m shocked at the Zalensky dick gobbling in here. I thought that was only done by corporate media and US politicians. Had no clue regular people were up his arse too.

It's also the 3rd time something like this has happened. Nothing happened the last 2 times (1st was an Ukrainian AD landed in Poland, 2nd was a Russian rocket targeting a port landed in Romania). Looks like Russia might have used Polish airspace but I'm doubtful anything meaningful beyond stern words will happen

Regular people don’t cheer for our enemies Russia and Iran like you do. Well some do, they congregate on the Poliboard. You’re welcome to join the BRICS club over there.

Neither claims make sense.

RM-70s have a maximum range of 20km.

I will always chuckle when Russia gets bent out of shape about Ukraine doing to Russia what Russia does to Ukraine
