INTELLIGENCE UPDATE
UPDATE ON UKRAINE 11 November 2023

Russia's State Archive Agency has published a collection of documents "On the historical unity of the Russians and Ukrainians". It opens with Russian President Vladimir Putin's July 2021 article on the subject, immediately followed by his address on the situation in Ukraine given on 21 February 2022, the eve of the invasion. The book features 242 documents ranging from the 11th century to the 20th century, which are used to justify the Kremlin's current policy and support the claim that foreign subversion turned Ukraine into “anti-Russia”. The documents are accompanied by Putin's interpretative comments.

Last week former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev ostensibly wrote an article on the history of Russo-Polish relations. He accused Poland of conducting an aggressive revisionist "Russophobic" policy, warning this could lead to the destruction of Polish statehood and threatening that Russia and Belarus are able to provide an adequate military response if necessary.

The weaponisation of history by the Russian leadership is intensifying, aimed at inculcating anti-westernism in the minds of the Russian population and intimidating its immediate western neighbours.

ISW Update 11/10

quote:

Key Takeaways:

Ukraine’s Main Military Intelligence Directorate (GUR) stated that Ukrainian surface attack drones sank two Russian Black Sea Fleet (BSF) small landing ships in occupied Crimea on November 10.

Russian milbloggers continue to overreact to the Russian failure to push Ukrainian forces from positions in east (left) bank Kherson Oblast.

Russian forces are launching significantly smaller and less frequent drone strikes against Ukraine in the past month than in previous months ahead of an anticipated large-scale winter strike campaign.

Russian President Vladimir Putin again visited the Southern Military District (SMD) headquarters in Rostov-on-Don on November 10, possibly in an effort to portray himself as an involved wartime leader ahead of the upcoming presidential elections in March 2024.

Russian President Vladimir Putin will reportedly hold his annual live “Direct Line” forum and annual press conference in tandem on December 14, and the event will likely serve to promote his presidential campaign.

Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmitry Lubinets announced on November 10 that Bohdan Yermokhin, a 17-year-old Ukrainian whom Russian authorities forcibly deported from occupied Mariupol to Russia and attempted to conscript, will return to Ukraine.

The United Kingdom-led Operation Interflex has achieved its goal of training 30,000 Ukrainian soldiers between June 2022 and December 2023.

Russian forces conducted offensive operations on November 10 along the Kupyansk-Svatove-Kreminna line, near Bakhmut, near Avdiivka, west and southwest of Donetsk City, in western Donetsk Oblast, in the Donetsk-Zaporizhia Oblast border area, and in western Zaporizhia Oblast and advanced in some areas.

Russian forces continue to struggle with low morale and poor discipline.

Ukrainian Telegram channel Mariupol Resistance and Ukrainian Mariupol City Advisor Petro Andryushchenko reported on November 10 that Ukrainian partisans detonated a police car in occupied Mariupol, Donetsk Oblast.

I also told you that there will be no more funding. They have 6B left that they all of a sudden found in a couch cushion. A speaker of the house was just fired for funding this idiotic war. And the current one looks like he only wants to fund Israel. Money stops January 1. Right about the time of Winter. Yikes.

The EU is voting on a $50b aid package on December 14th — and they’ll pass it.

No rational actors wants to see Russia win. I wouldn’t be surprised if the US does give Ukraine the frozen assets to keep going.

??Germany decides to double military aid to Ukraine, – BILD.

Initially, the German Ministry of Finance had budgeted only €4 billion for military aid to Ukraine in the 2024 budget, but all of it has already been reserved for promised projects.

In this regard, according to BILD, the German government has decided that the military budget will be increased by another €4 billion.

"Next week, the Bundestag Budget Committee will officially decide on the amendments to the state budget", – the report says.

1. Is that German aid to Ukraine or just increase in German defense spending?

2. This war is not over yet but will be over in three days when the Russians take Kyiv per the pt board.

Unfortunately this war is going to last a long time. Russia bit off way more than it can chew.

Unfortunately I believe you are right. Unless Putin has a sudden health issue and dies or is permanently incapacitated. Per my friend ms in Russia the Russian people still support and love (at least publicly) Putin but that doesn’t extend to his underlyings. If something happens to Putin there may enough instability to cause Russia to make peace.

They are going to need a strong army to get out from under the heel of being a vassal state. Imagine getting your investment in energy infrastructure bombed which is an act of war and then turn around and publicly supporting said terrorist country.

Before WW2 Germany had Russia building up its army to get around western sanctions, only to go rogue on them years later.

More Russians getting eliminated. More Ukrainians being murdered.

Russias Black fleet decimated.

Russia minorities beginning to wake up.

Lost all influence in Caucasus and Central Asia

Eliminated military export industry

Lost majority of their brightest people who fled the draft

Yet Russia is winning

I continue to watch the sputnik daily activity map. It only confirms that the two parties are locked into a war of flinging monkey poop. With no strategic plan or outcome.

Compare with Israel methodical march through northern Gaza . Yes it is a smaller theatre but they demonstrate a strategy

If the war is over why is Russia still fighting and trying to capture Advidka and defend against the Ukrainians in the Kherson and Zap oblasts? When wars are over the fighting stops.

I have 2 uncles who were Kappa Sigs with Mike Johnson when they were at LSU and they are still friends to this day (Mike Johnson personally returned their calls when they called to congratulate him). They said that you can believe him when he says something. So Ukraine is the next order of business after they finish up the Israel funding. I also have a younger cousin who is on Steve Scalise's staff. She says that it is not a matter of if Ukraine will get more funding but a matter of how much. The amount of funding that Ukraine gets will depend on how much the dems give in and agree to border security etc. She says there is more than enough republican support for it to pass easily when it comes to the floor for a vote.

quote:

Money stops January 1.

So the USA and the EU have 6 weeks to negotiate and play politics before passing more funding.
