As long as Ukraine is capable of defending themselves, the West should enable them to do so. It’s their fight, but we can surely make Russia pay and pay and pay.
Russia doesn't need to be forced to pay. It's giving back what's been hers since the baptism. It's not a question of money. But what makes you agree to throw away billions that your country needs so badly and that will never come back is unclear. Janet Yellen recently submitted a letter to Congress with another date for a possible recession in the U.S., and you agree to send money to the fire.
Well, if you want to do it so badly, go ahead and do it. I just wish you luck with it. Only how many military men, including even American ones, recognize that Ukraine has no chance of military victory. While the U.S. risk of NATO collapse is increasing. After all, losing in Ukraine is not comparable to a triumphant exit from Afghanistan with evacuation of ambassadors from the roof by helicopter.

Good post
We live in a social media driven world of extreme polarities being the only acknowledged options an opposing viewpoint could have. Ironic that most all serious issues in human life have alot of gray, so it's pretty dumb if you're an adult and you act like this.
Children think this way, oh I can't touch this pot? "You never let me touch anything!"
Oh you think we shouldn't send support to ukraine? "You might as well move to Russia if you love it so much."
Oh you think supporting ukraine against invaders is good? "You think ukraine is the holiest nation on earth, maybe you should go to theFrontline, did you know theres nazis there?"
It's dumb.

Not true at all. Russia invading a sovereign nation has only emboldened NATO. And neighboring countries are increasing defense spending.
All because Putin is a murderous a-hole dictator.

Now you're just trolling. NATO has been strengthened considerably by Russia's actions. More than anything, Russia's actions have reinforced the undeniable truth that NATO is necessary to defend its member states from Russian aggression. Russia is the only nation in the entire European landscape that is aggressively invading other nations with the goal of empire building. Defense against Russia's aggression is the core mission of NATO. Every state that doesn't want to live under Russian rule wants to be a part of NATO to ensure their own self-determination.
What is military victory in this invasion of Ukraine? Russia wants to expand its borders by force and subjugate the Ukrainian population. Will Russia ever be able to hold its newly conquered lands peacefully or successfully? The only answer is No. The Ukrainians will continue to resist even if the war stops its active phase. Russia's newly conquered lands will be in a constant state of conflict for the near and far foreseeable future.
Is the cost of the conquer for Russia greater than the gain? Yes. Sanctions will not end as long as Russia persists with its expansion by military conquest. Russia can be a few square kilometers larger and significantly poorer and isolated if it wants, but that is not "victory."
I've been ignoring your trolling but you've gotten a little reckless and gone overboard. Your declarations are starting to sound desperate, as if you are trying to convince yourself of Russia's "success." Good luck with that.

This is a curious statement dealing with the explosion in/ near Moscow.
It says nobody was hurt and no serious damage, yet, "Emergency services working on the spot." What emergency?

This one seemed odd to me with the wording.
quote:
The Armed Forces of #Ukraine performed a miracle, pushing #Russians back to defensive positions, reports the Pentagon.
"So outstanding results in a less than ideal situation. Going forward, we're going to continue to consult with them, we're going to continue to provide them training so that they can take back sovereign territory and ultimately win this fight," said Pentagon Speaker Patrick Ryder.
I am going to guess the wording oddity is due to poor journalism/writing skills...

Ukrainian-Russian war. Day 534:
Situation southwest of Donetsk: The intensity of attacks by #UkrainianArmy led troops to recapture about half of the town of Urozhaine/???????? forcing #RussianArmy to retreat to the southern part. The recapture of the town would allow Ukrainian troops to level the frontline and develop a salient southwards Staromlynivka-Kermenchyk line, where a small trench line is located before the 1st main one.
Situation on northeastern front: #RussianArmy continue making small advances north of Syn'kivka/????????? (#UkrainianArmy still present in the town). Moreover, Russian troops also took control over part of the eastern hills adjacent to Kotlyarivka/?????????? displacing the fight to the first houses.
On the other hand, the Head of Kupiansk military district announced the beginning of evacuation procedures in 16 new settlements that together with the 37 ones announced yesterday increased the area to 53 settlements located in both shores of Oskil river.
Situation on Zaporizhia front: Today #UkrainianArmy launched a powerful attack towards the town of Robotyne/???????? in which troops reached the first buildings. After some hours of combats #RussianArmy repelled the attack, but Ukrainian troops managed to consolidate new gains at the northern outskirts, this time closer.

Rybar:

In the morning the enemy again tried to strike at the Robotyne - Verbovoye line with seven armored vehicles. According to Spetsnaz Archangel, the advance was detected and the grouping was struck by artillery.
AFU raids with small forces have been going on for several days now, but earlier, Ukrainian forces would send infantry without armored support. Yesterday, assault units of the 46th Brigade tried to gain a foothold 3 km east of Robotyne, Russian fighters repulsed the attack.
The losses of the AFU are growing every day. As a result of yesterday's sortie, the 46 Airmobile Brigade lost (according to confirmed data) two killed and 15 wounded. And in one of the companies of 10th Army Corps the number of killed amounted to 155 people.
Ukrainian formations are also active near Pyatykhatky. After a small regrouping, units of the 128 Mtn Assault Brigade were sent in to the area of the settlement, indicating possible activation in this sector.

From The New Voice of Ukraine
A video showing Ukrainian FPV kamikaze drones hunting down most advanced Russian tank, the T-90M Proryv, released by the Command of the Airborne Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Aug. 11, is rapidly circulating on social media platforms.
The footage vividly displays the panicked reactions of the enemy tank crew. Overwhelmed by a swarm of drones above them, they failed to notice they are reversing over a cliff behind them.
The drone struck the immobilized tank after its fall, resulting in the complete destruction of the armored vehicle.

Zelenskyy sacks Ukraine's military recruiters over corruption
quote:
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy fired the chiefs of Ukraine's military recruitment centers over concerns about corruption.
"We fire all regional military commissars ... Cynicism and bribery during the war is treason," Zelenskyy said after a special meeting of the National Security and Defense Council.
"Someone took cash, someone took cryptocurrency," he said, adding that 112 criminal cases were initiated against employees of military recruitment offices, 33 persons have been charged with corruption.
He asked Valeriy Zaluzhniy, commander in chief of the armed forces, for new appointments of disabled veterans injured in the war with Russia.
The move followed a series of scandals including forced recruitment, and officers said to be taking huge sums of money for allowing exemption from conscription.
Corruption is a big concern in Ukraine, and Zelenskyy earlier this year made changes to the government and security services as part of a crackdown.

Everything is a lie. Nothing is real. You died and this thread is the last flickering consciousness left in your brain until the chemicals quit flowing and the lights turn off for good.

A short video on the top ten mine clearing machines in service. Given what's going on in Ukraine it looks like whatever they are using is coming up short. They can reduce the effectiveness of armed or spotting drones with a lot of smoke, but some of those Russian mine fields are three miles deep and can be replenished by artillery.
Explosive ground based drones might be of value if swarmed by the hundreds and set off all at once.

Daisy Cutters cleared hundreds of yards at a time. The explosive was a combination of ammonium nitrate, fuel oil and aluminum powder. 15,000 pounds might inhibit delivery, but maybe hundreds of ground drones with large pop-up explosives would do it.
