Prigozhin was also reportedly given back 10 billion rubles (more than $100 million) that law enforcement had found during a raid on one of his vehicles.
If true, we have a new ballgame. You can believe that Putin was against giving him that money. If he knew about it...

Edit to add that 10 billion Rubles won't fit into a suitcase. That must have been one large truck.

The reason that Russia would blow up the plant is that the plant is capable of producing a massive amount of electricity, and Russia wants Ukraine economically damaged as much as possible.

Your previous post also mentioned measures that could be taken as compared to Fukushima where all control was lost.

I would assume the other reason russia might do this is to achieve an operational pause in a certain section. This is pure spitballing from me, but I assume the aftermath of a plant explosion would at least pull some amount of manpower and logistical support from Ukraine away from the war effort. And perhaps given Putin enough to extract a temporary cease fire where he allows international folks access so long as shelling stops across the front?

I am in camp Ukraine will not retake this plant intact. If Russia thinks they need to withdraw from this area, they will blow the plant in some form or fashion.

I agree. I just don't think that we're going to see some massive number of two-headed frogs as a result.

The six reactors at ZNPP are not at all like the Chernobyl reactor and cannot, CAN NOT, have the same kind of accident. Chernobyl had a graphite moderator, and the building it was in was not the heavily reinforced concrete of the reactors at ZNPP. The ZNPP reactors have hard oxide fuel encased in metal, and are inside a stainless steel vessel. Chernobyl had no such vessel.quote:The Post mentions the possibility of a Fukushima-type accident. The reactors at Fukushima operated right up until the earthquake. The ZNPP reactors have been mostly shut down for months. That means that the Fukushima reactors were much hotter, both thermally and radiologically, than the ZNPP reactors are now. Additionally, all control was lost at Fukushima. There are measures the ZNPP operators can take to mitigate such an accident.

Those measures are also Soviet/Russian designed and built things. Their quality control is not exactly the best in the world.

Always so optimistic. They say you guys live longer. Personally I’m not sure why anyone would want to.

You're right. Ukraine will likely be ravaged by a biblical plague of two-headed frogs, and then the country will be really ruined when SirWinston moves there after someone tells him that putting a two-headed frog up one's butt can produce extreme orgasms.

Haven’t seen any news lately that indicates Russia is gaining any ground. Does it seem like Russia is just trying to run out the clock and hold on to as much Ukrainian territory as they can?

Also - looking back at Bakhmut, the experts seem to think Ukraine was really able to accomplish a lot by pinning Russia down there while they rotated their more experienced troops out to train on Western equipment.

Correct, Soviet Era into the Russian Federation Era, all design codes were not about engineering but about consuming substandard materials, such as steel and concrete. Thus, they could say how much they grew those industries.

Still likely better than Chernobyl. We already had Chicken Kiev in the 80's glowing in the dark

At this time, Russia is only moving backward, there is no forward movement at all.

I remember reading they had found a Wagner van in St Pete near some Wagner recruiting ceter or something during the "march". But the number thrown out at the time was like $30M USD. I don't know if $100M would fit in a vehicle. That's a lot of cash. A box truck maybe.

I do believe he had some cash to get back though. I don't see him showing his face in St Petersburg for a couple rifles and a Glock. A pile of cash...? That's a risk he'd probably take.

Things found today

1)This is claimed to be the administration building in Volnovakha, Donetsk.

Alleged HIMARS arrival at the building of the administration of Volnovakha, Donetsk region.

There were no deaths during the strike of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the Volnovakha administration building, three employees received minor injuries, Pushilin said.

According to him, the attack on the building was allegedly caused by Storm Shadow missiles.

2)On the topic of Russia losing a lot of artillery, they seem to be using several different platforms to field the 57mm system rocket pods UB-32 beyond the one linked by Obtuse1 and CitizenK earlier.

https://twitter.com/IntelCrab/status/1676683990395236352 - Video, watch posing guys reaction when it fires...

3)Further on the video regarding the transport of T-54/55 War Translated has provided subs on the locals commentary - it is worth a listen.

A train transferring old Russian tanks was noticed in Voronezh - judging by the comments of the locals, even they realise what sort of old stuff Russia has to resort to.

4) It looks like there was 2 attacks in Makiivka. The fuel depot someone else posted about earlier was also hit according to this. Whether it was collateral from the strike on the dump is unclear as I haven't found geolocation of the fuel dump yet.

Russian media write that at least 5 fuel tanks are on fire in Makiivka.
