Oof.. just got a lil' chub. Nuggets of info like this, amongst so many others, are why I have continued to trudge through the muck of PT nonsense. Such an impressive integration of complex technology. Thank you ALL for your contributions. I cannot get information like this readily elsewhere. So contextual and informative with backgrounds and deep seeded interests with a healthy dose of skepticism. I have followed 20 new Instagram accounts about the war and geopolitics, read plenty of news articles, but I rely on this place by far. Keep up the good work people.

I know there are many posters on here who would disagree and that's okay.

I think this is an excellent thread, lots of solid good contributors and a manageable amount of trolling. I haven't found a better source for keeping up with the war anywhere on the internet. This thread is a great aggregator of info.

Patriot PAC-3 Hit-To-Kill Interceptors Also Pack A Little-Known Explosive Warhead

While PAC-3-series interceptors for the Patriot surface-to-air missile system, like those now being used in Ukraine, are often described as purely hit-to-kill weapons, that really isn't the whole story. In actuality, they have a hybrid design that includes a so-called "lethality enhancer" that contains an explosive charge. This component is designed to create a cloud of metal fragments around the missile's body specifically to improve the chance of scoring a hit against an air-breathing target like a cruise missile.

The lethality enhancer came up in discussions after the tail end of a PAC-3 Cost Reduction Initiative (CRI) interceptor fell on a highway in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv on Wednesday.

In the interests of beerjeep's sanity you can work out who I am quoting :

I am slightly confused, been awhile since I have seen a map. Is this not considerably behind the front line?

Not huge, under 5km from the looks of it on this map, depending on where they advanced from and how far into Volodymyrivka

Also there have been reports of a Russian advance in Marinka for several days, https://twitter.com/War_Mapper/status/1664431588803747848/photo/1, has updated to show this so it looks confirmed, though minor at this point.

There is also a lot of talk of from Pro-Russian sources about advances towards the north of Kupiansk through Lyman Pershyl but thus far has only been substantiated through noise rather than evidence.

Has been geolocated to this position which is right next to where the landing ship was sunk back in March last year. Looks to have been targeting the buildings next to the building marked with the small yellow line. Possible military storage?

The structures in the yellow box in the second picture look like grain silos, which would make sense for that port.

Google Earth has a 2023 image that is pretty good. Where the explosion occurred there are a number of older warehouses. Interestingly, further to the left in your second picture (out of the shot a bit) there looks to be a new, hardened, warehouse on a large new concrete pad. (at least to my untrained eye). It was not the location of the explosion. There are also rail lines running through the whole site.

Victor Olevich, while definitely a patriotic Russian, has always been one of the few voices of reason on this show. He looks down right rattled in this clip at the state of things and how the rest of the talking heads keep saying that everything is rosy.

New Tank Chat from the Tank Museum with David Willey focusing on the T-14.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MfCG0bNxVL4

As they note they don't have a T-14 at Bovington so much of what they discussed is based on a wide variety of sources, some of which may just be propaganda from either side. Interesting none the less, especially on how different it is from previous design methodology and why the production of the tank has halted.

Victor drives some of the hardliners nuts, like in this clip. Kazakov (the bearded Duma member) is an eternal optimist and seemingly can't stand Olevich as they have had multiple run-ins on this show as well as Solovyoz's, and Simonyan's shows.

I have seen them butt heads before but the level of eyeball "frick you" in this exchange, especially from Olevich was pretty intense.

British Defence Intelligence
INTELLIGENCE UPDATE
UPDATE ON UKRAINE 03 June 2023

Russia has continued to redeploy regular units to the Bakhmut sector, as Wagner Group assault detachment complete their withdrawal to rear areas.

Russian VDV (airborne forces) have assumed an increasingly important role in Bakhmut: elements of the 76th and 106th divisions and two additional separate VDV brigades are now deployed to the sector.

The VDV is much degraded from its pre-invasion ‘elite' status. However, Russian commanders have likely attempted to maintain some of these still relatively capable units as an uncommitted reserve. Because they have instead been forced to deploy them to hold the front line in Bakhmut, the whole Russian force is likely to be less flexible in reacting to operational challenges.

Wagner's Grey Zone has a new video showing a dozen dead members of the Russian Volunteer Corps. The new incursion at Shebekino has been effective, but not without cost.
