think these would have had the world turn on Russia before they had any "victory" and would have been bad, so they just went for invasion.
with the way mass communication has shown the horrors of war and with the pushback of every nation around the world at any major conflict before lojg we are going to resort back to everyone meeting at a specified location for pitcher battle and each side sending out a champion

Yeah I think there is a lot more clandestine help going on. I imagine there are lots of SF units across Ukraine right now and Ukraine may have more advanced anti-air tech than anyone knew about previously.

We’re almost definitely sharing plenty of tactical info. Possibly even coordinating with their Air Force with our airborne AWACS planes like the E-3 that have been flying near the Ukrainian borders. I’d be surprised if we have US military personnel on the ground but almost certainly some agency type folks helping to coordinate the intel and targeting effort.

1.) Reports that something is off about Putin (e.g. Parkinsons or something). He is running out of time and wants to be "Great" and go down in the history books.

I'd say there may be some validity to this one. He just looks unhealthy and a little off in the clips/stills he has appeared in recently.

It's a dangerous time when an authoritarian leader starts to decline and loose it. Goes all the way back to Marius in Rome when he was pretty much bonkers at the end and did all kinds of damage before Sulla reigned him in.

It's the fog of war. It always has been. Both Ukraine and Russia are fighting info campaigns.

Turkey will shut off Russian Black Sea access to Ukraine - Foxnews

quote:

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will ban the passage of Russian warships to the Black Sea, Zelenskyy announced Saturday.

Zelenskyy hailed the decision as “significant military and humanitarian support for Ukraine.”

“The people of Ukraine will never forget that!” Zelenskyy wrote on Twitter.

Russia had moved to block off part of the Black Sea in what it claimed was a “counter-terrorism operation” in Ukrainian waters.

Zelenskyy on Twitter

quote:

I thank my friend Mr. President of ???? @RTErdogan and the people of ???? for their strong support. The ban on the passage of ???? warships to the Black Sea and significant military and humanitarian support for ???? are extremely important today. The people of ???? will never forget that!

Russia disputes claim over Black Sea access - The Guardian

quote:

There’s some confusion about Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskiy’s claim earlier that Turkey had pledged to close the straits to access the Black Sea.

Russia, via the Interfax news agency, had said it has had no official notification of the closure. There is speculation that Zelenskiy’s tweet may have been a request for Turkey to take action, rather than a confirmation that it would be in place.

The Montreux Convention, which governs the Bosphorus and Dardanelles straits, says that ships from Black Sea states will be allowed to return to port during wartime. If Turkey did go ahead and ban warships from the strait, it would break the convention.

Turkey has said it is yet to make a decision on closing its straits between the Mediterannean and the Black Sea to the Russian Navy - The Guardian

quote:

despite an earlier claim by Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskiy.

It’s the first official clarification since Zelenskiy said on Saturday that Turkey had agreed to close the waterways to warships – which would have been a big defensive boon for Ukraine.

According to Reuters, a Turkish official said it “has not made a decision to close the straits to Russian ships”.

If it did happen, a closure would break a convention for Black Sea states that warships are allowed to return to port during wartime.

The Russian Navy has already been responsible for casualties on the coast of Ukraine and on islands in the Black Sea.

I don’t think Turkey closed the Black Sea to Russia. Lots of conflicting info all around on the war. The Kyiv post is claiming a Russian plane accidentally bombed a Russian naval vessel in the Black Sea. I don’t believe that at all.

actually it’s the opposite no way he wins. Pretty much everyone is against him and at this point his only option is to go al in or back down. If he goes all in he loses due to heavy sanctions if he backs down he looks weak

He can spin a win by taking some small territories that consider themselves Russian already. Whether intentional or not, his goals for this operation are up to interpretation so Putin isn’t backed into a corner trying to check boxes on this operation.

Those sanctions beginning to work....

France Detains Russian Cargo Ship in English Channel - WSJ

quote:

France intercepted a Russia-bound cargo ship in the English channel early Saturday on suspicion it is subject to new European Union sanctions against Russia for invading Ukraine.

French authorities said they were checking whether the 400-foot commercial vessel, named the Baltic Leader, is owned by a Russian entity on the EU sanctions list. The boat, which was carrying vehicles, is now docked in the French port of Boulogne-sur-Mer, where it is being inspected, a French official said, adding that its crew was being cooperative.

The U.S. put a boat of the same name on the U.S. sanctions list for belonging to Promsvyazbank, a state-owned bank focusing on Russia’s defense sector that is also on the EU sanctions list.

An online shipping tracker showed a cargo ship with the same name and identification number as the one on the U.S. sanctions list is currently docked at Boulogne-sur-Mer. The tracker says the vessel was on its way to St. Petersburg.

The decision to detain the vessel is an early sign of how Western sanctions are likely to disrupt longstanding trade ties between Europe and Russia.

European foreign ministers formally signed off a second package of EU sanctions Friday afternoon, launching a set of measures that will cut Russian banks out of international markets, sanction oligarchs, ban the sale of planes and spare parts and prevent EU companies from providing services and specific technology and goods to Russia’s refinery and space sectors.

Something isn't adding up

You have the entire corporate media establishment, intelligence agencies, political left, big tech, social media, and the same social media users who for 2 years made their social media profile pictures a selfie of them wearing a mask, now changing their profile pictures to a selfie of them with a flag of Ukraine in it - heavily pushing a pro-Ukraine narratiave

You have the whole gang of foreign policy disaster politicians and public figures like George Soros, Hilary Clinton, the Obamas, the Bidens, Adam Kinzinger, Mitt Romney, Bill Kristol, neocons, and more - heavily pushing a pro-Ukraine narrative

Something is not adding up, which is why I am hesitant to join the pro-Ukraine side. Doesn't mean I am pro-Russia.

Exactly. The people who believe everything on CNN concerning Ukraine and Russia are just stupid. People by now should have learned to not trust the media (they said Hillary would win Texas, among many other lies).

I understand that people will be killed. Ukraine is not an American Ally. We should not be defending them. It is not our fight. That doesn't mean I support Putin or his policies.

Hunter Biden and his laptop with illegal images did all kinds of business deals with Ukraine. It is basically a huge money laundering country. The US Government sends money to Ukraine and other countries as "aid". The family members of US government officials set up companies to receive some of that "aid". Money laundered. Biden has been doing it for years, using his pig son Hunter.

Women in Dnipro have been making Molotov cocktails, using polystyrene and used beer bottles, which they can use against Russian forces.
