Appears the situation in Severodonetsk is dire for Ukraine. They are admitting they’ve been pushed out of the center of the city.

First off Russia won’t take all of Ukraine if they can’t even take the Donbas where they have the most local support in the country. Theo won’t get to Odessa either and in the off chance they did they would lose 100,000 troops and possibly 5,000 armored vehicles in doing so. Ukraine as the rest of the world know how important that port is so they will fight to the bitter end to keep it and then that’s where you start getting other countries involved. NATO won’t see that port go down I have a feeling and will send a fleet to push out the Russian navy which they will do because their navy is aging and isn’t a match for Britain or our navy for instance. If they were to actually somehow look to be taking the entire country which will never happen but IF then what do you think Poland, a member of NATO, is going to do? Just sit back and welcome Russia as their new neighbor? Not a chance. If I were NATO I would come together and pool another package of maybe 500 howitzers and 200 more main battle tanks and several dozen more rocket systems with enough ammo for about 90 days and make the Russians eat lead the next 3 months and then revaluate the situation. With the weapons and ammo to go head to head with Russia for the rest of the summer they might be down to breaking out the T-34s out of the museums to fight with. I do t think Russia has 3 months of hard fighting and dying at the rate they are losing men and most importantly machines. Eventually they will have to stop and negotiate and of course they will call that a win but the world will know it will be an embarrassing loss that the mighty Russian army couldn’t take a much smaller country.

NATO is going to have to make a choice: Either supply Ukraine or accept that Russia will win.
They are supplying Ukraine.
Russia is winning.

The Ukrainians are trapped in the industrial zone
I don’t know why, but the Ukrainians destroyed a section of the last remaining bridge, and so there’s no way out for their men in Severodonetsk.

If we are involved, probably so. That's one of the reasons they invaded Ukraine.
We frick up everything we touch of late. This is just geopolitical wrangling that we are neck deep in.

Ukraine will take back Kherson before Odessa is ever challenged.

Here is what Ukraine (Podoliak) says it needs for parity but no doubt would be happy to receive half of it.
Being straightforward – to end the war we need heavy weapons parity:
1000 howitzers caliber 155 mm;
300 MLRS;
500 tanks;
2000 armored vehicles;
1000 drones
The extent to which the request will be fulfilled may become clearer on Wednesday June 15 when the Ukraine Defense Contact Group meets.

I believe that was listed here Friday.
Not about the bridges, but the fact that Russia had regained the center of the city after losing it early last week.
Will this become the Ukranian Alamo or will it become a mini Stalingrad? We shall see.

What do you still not get about these people are fighting for their homes and families by an invading piece of shite? They will sacrifice as needed to bleed the Russians white. It’s hilarious that you still think this is what Russia winning looks like. They should have been able to take the entire country in a month max but everything about Russia is corrupt and incompetent.

I hope one of the takeaways from this war for the US and NATO is that the volume of ammunition consumed daily requires ample stores.
Modern weapon systems have long replenishment timelines, if current manufacturing capacity can’t replenish stocks fast enough to keep up with a war, you have to have a bigger stockpile so you can last long enough to bring additional manufacturing capacity online.

The First World War should have taught everyone this

Correct me if I’m wrong, but the US wouldn’t really need all of this howitzer and similar ammo would we? So much of our fighting would be done from the air and from ships, etc.

Depends on the battlefield and the objective.

No shite, the constant stream of shite posting is tiresome. I still am following the war closely, but what’s the point of posting about it here. I love TD, but it seriously needs some moderation.

Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III Conducts Press Briefing, Bangkok, Thailand

from Q & A....
Ukraine appears to be increasingly outgunned and outmanned in the Donbas. With the U.S., is the objective still to help Ukraine win militarily and to weaken Russia militarily?
And then head of the contact group, Ukraine's asked for a thousand more howitzers, 300 MLRS. What's the U.S. willing to provide at this point militarily?
SEC. AUSTIN: Well, first of all, the U.S. is willing to provide everything and -- and to help Ukraine be successful, mindful of the fact that we have our own readiness to -- to keep in mind, and -- and -- but not only that; we have partners from around the globe that are willing to help Ukraine in meaningful ways. We've seen -- you know, we -- we've contributed a substantial number of howitzers and a significant amount of 155 ammunition already, along with so many other things. But other nations have contributed 155 howitzers, as well.
And so we'll continue to work to get as much as we can there as fast as we can in order to -- to help them be successful. And our focus is on making sure that we -- we help them -- or we -- we give them what's needed to protect their sovereign territory, which is where we started and where we still are, so next question.

Bottom line is it's coming from American tax payers. Let's take care of Americans first before giving out money to others.
In an ideal world I would agree with you, but we don’t live in an ideal world. $40,000,000,000 would have built a border wall. However, our politicians are not going to build a border wall while Biden is in office. They are also not going to screw over the taxpayers and keep or save the money. It’s better that they use the money to kill neo Soviet commies than spend it promoting driving electric cars while performing oral sex on individuals with gender identity disorder awareness month.

Ukraine started the war with approximately 3 months worth of shells for its Soviet era artillery. Which served it well until the war entered its fourth month. Also it’s ammunition factories were in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lviv, and Odessa. Which made them easy targets. So in addition to needing an ample supply, modern militaries need supplies and plans for a long war, and nations that might be invaded need to have weapons plants in secure locations so they can continue to produce weapons even while under attack. Ukraine could still be turning out shells if it had built some of its weapons factories in the Carpathian mountains.

Starting to see posts on the twatter that Ukrainian forces have advanced to within 10 km of Kherson. Can’t confirm anything yet, but the rumors of the Russians fleeing from Kharkiv and the Ukrainian counterattack in Severodonetsk started the same way. However, they are also twatter rumors so take with large grain of salt.
