No, no, no. All Ukrainians love Mother Russia and want to be part of her again. Glorious and Brave Leader Putin is valiantly fighting the nazis to free the oppressed Ukrainian people so they can rightfully joint their Motherland again!

Are you a female?
Why don't you calm down and not use statistics from 30 years ago (during the fall of the USSR) to back your argument that current Ukranians in Eastern Ukraine "hate" Russia.
WaPo: 49% of residents of Donbas want to be a part of the Russian Federation

I enjoy seeing Wagner group take it on the chin any time I can. But that main video linked in your post (drone footage) and another one linked inside the wright up (filmed from ground with sobbing female), cited as local news do not match. One is in a wooded area and the other is clearly in urbanized area with no trees. Also the area shown in the main video (drone) does not appear to be of a stadium, which the local news cites. Does not mean the report of Wagner being hit is false, just some irregularities in the reporting.

Not signing up for WAPO but, by your own numbers, a minority.
STILL A MINORITY after a decade of forces migration by the Communist Russian overlords. Realize Russia for what it is....
This has been a 30-year plan of conquest, forced migration and annexation accelerated by Putin's declining health.

He also didnt point out that most Ukrainians (3 million out of 6.5 million) had already fled the the Donbas for Western Ukraine since 2014. Even more fled after the war began and none of them were part of this survey. They only a sampled those who haven't been displaced by Russian separatists & this new Russian invasion.

GTFO of here with your logic and historical context.

Another article from 2018 which outlines the actions of the Kremlin to lead up to this. It has NOTHING to do with possible expansion of a defensive pact (NATO) and everything to do with Putin's expansionist designs. It has been going on for over 20 years.
Stop helping Putin rebuild the USSR.

It is of course possible that these various moves are arising spontaneously; but it is far more likely that they reflect a concerted effort by the Kremlin to promote the integration of the Donbas into the Russian Federation in ways that will remain below the radar screen of most Western governments

The consensus seems to be they are out of land based cruise missiles.

Euro Maidan Press.
Could it perhaps be a little more nuanced, and maybe have a little to do with both?

These aren't "my numbers". They show 49% in the Donbas not only do not "hate" Russia, they want to actively join Russia.
Again my only point is that there is not a "long-standing hatred of Russia" in the region. Stop dropping your IQ by letting propaganda get shoved down your throat.

Did you just completely ignore sugar71's post?

Also if some stranger calls me in Russian occupied territory I'd be reluctant to answer if I'm anti Russian/ Pro Ukrainian. Wouldn't want to be "disappeared".

You cannot look at the WAPO poll without taking this context into consideration.
Posted on 6/10/22 at 1:22 pm to sugar71
Even if that poll represented the genuine will of the population, it wouldn't justify Russian actions. Russia (both the RF & the USSR) has signed many international agreements over the years agreeing to respect the territorial boundaries of other nations including Ukraine. If Russia was going to claim the Donbas was its territory, it had plenty of opportunity to do so in 1992 when the Soviet Union fell apart. That ship has sailed.

I've been to both Ukraine and Russia, mates. Have also fricked Ukrainian, Russian, and Belarusian chicas for good measure
St Petersburg easily the best city in any of these countries.
Kiev was a huge disappointment. Except for like 8 Square blocks it was very Eastern bloc and ugly / depressing as shite. Thank God for Wladimir Klitschko's Marriott bannered 4.5 star hotel - it made the place seem a bit more civilised at the end of the day.

Ukrainian girls are best. Russian history was fascinating. Ukraine didn't really have great museums and documentation of their history except for the churches.
