Russian history was fascinating.
That is the second true thing that you have posted in years.

Ukraine didn't really have great museums and documentation of their history except for the churches.
That is because everything in Ukraine either evacuated by the Soviets in 1941, destroyed or stolen by the Germans in WW2. The same thing is true about Belarus and the Baltic states. Only the churches survived.
Speaking of history.

Let me make it perfectly clear both Russia and Ukraine suck and I hope they both lose.
The problem with this sentiment is the “they” you want to lose isn’t the “they” that is dying and seeing their entire lives destroyed.
Seeing this event unfold and saying good Ukraine is awful and deserves this is analogous to seeing 1,000,000 folks in southern Ohio and eastern Kentucky bombed out of their homes and towns and saying “great serves those corrupt fat cats right for invading Iraq, spying on the world, fueling the drug trade and getting rich selling weapons to everyone.”

I was in Lepzig Germany not long after the wall came down. Very ugly and depressing as you said.
St. Thomas Church, where Bach played and is buried, and the Christmas market were the only things I really remember.

Below is a link detailing Ukraine's arms inventory.

These aren't "my numbers". They show 49% in the Donbas not only do not "hate" Russia, they want to actively join Russia.
Again my only point is that there is not a "long-standing hatred of Russia" in the region. Stop dropping your IQ by letting propaganda get shoved down your throat.
No, you are 100% wrong.
I literally posted links from 20 and 15 years ago, documenting the actions of the Russians who have been laying the foundation for this invasion.
You posted one single poll that was a snapshot in time. A time after which Russia's actions have resulted in a demographic shift in their favor so that they could better justify their invasion. You are being duped. Apply some reason to your analysis.

I'm glad both countries are taking losses. Hope they both lose.
I'm ok with this, other than the world needs Ukrainian wheat. I have no LOVE for either. I do support Ukraine 100% in it's resistance to capitulation to the USSR.

Good info. MLRS seems to be the main deficiency.

Why do you think this is? Why might Russian history be extoled and praised and Ukrainian history be hard to locate? Could it be the typical result of Russian domination?....

St Petersburg easily the best city in any of these countries.
Kiev was a huge disappointment. Except for like 8 Square blocks it was very Eastern bloc and ugly / depressing as shite. Thank God for Wladimir Klitschko's Marriott bannered 4.5 star hotel - it made the place seem a bit more civilised at the end of the day.
Yeah, none of this ever happened.

I took a train from Darmstadt Germany through the former East Germany. Stayed overnight in Dresden, then continued on to Prague. There was STILL a stark contrast between East and West Germany and also Czech Republic.
It was stark. The border crossing was eye opening. They stopped the train, checked our papers and had dogs with them (through first class).

Why do you have such a hard on for Ukraine?

quote:This war has served as a great awakening to Ukrainians who have had their culture historically suppressed or bastardized by Russia. Tolstoy, Tchaikovsky, Catherine the Great & other Russian names/monuments are being replaced ( also Soviets) with Ukrainians `& their allies. They call it a "Decolonizatiion" of Ukraine. Indifference and acceptance of Russian influence there is dwindling.

So they’re going to melt down the statue of Catherine the Great in Odessa? The city she founded?
