As a southerner I’d like to say frick you for comparing me to any Russian.

Russians see war the way southerners do, they believe in sacrifice. And they honor courage. They do not see war the way Hollywood does.
How many slaves are being forced under gun point to work in Ukraine? The last time I checked Russia invaded Ukraine, not China invading itself or China invading one of the African countries where China pretty much established slave labor. Don’t try to redirect Russian sins on modern America.

They have an honor culture too.

It is like honor among thieves.
I served with a Russian born in Russia, odd I know, and he used to talk about it.

Have you seen this BBC interview with Gorbachev? It’s fascinating. Note what he says about what the people told him when he came to power. To paraphrase, the people told him we can deal with hunger and can go without things, but whatever you do please do not bring us a war.
The Soviets suffered as much as anyone in WWII. It appears Putin and the rest of his petulant generation failed to listen to their fathers and mothers about what war really does to people. The real people, the farmers and the babushkas who bear the brunt of morons in suits like Putin.
The interview really is worth a watch. And if Gorbachev is too be believed Russians who have actually seen a war want absolutely nothing to do with it ever again.

Ukrainian forces launched a successful counter attack on the town of Blahodatne, Russians fled the town and are retiring to positions closer to the city of Kherson.

Reported Ukranian advance NW of Kherson. Blahodatne, mentioned as being retaken, was already marked on my map as being under Ukrainian control or at least without a Russian presence.
Either way, it is now under Ukrainian control, putting them 15km from Kherson.

And in today’s world Russians that have seen war can’t really speak out from fear of the government or because the internet as we know it doesn’t exist there like it did 6 months ago.

Didn't see this posted but Russia destroyed the 2nd largest Ukrainian grain export terminal (3rd largest by export volume) on Friday in the Port of Mykolaiv. This will definitely cause an even greater global food shortage problem.

ISW update

Key Takeaways
Russian forces likely retain control over most of Severodonetsk as of June 6, though the exact situation in the city remains unclear. Control of terrain is likely changing hands frequently.
Russian forces in the Izyum area did not make any confirmed advances, while forces advancing west from Lyman secured minor gains.
Russian forces continued unsuccessful attempts to sever Ukrainian lines of communication northeast of Bakhmut.
Limited and localized Ukrainian counterattacks on June 5 forced Russian troops to focus on holding defensive lines north of Kharkiv City on June 6.
Russian occupation authorities are advancing efforts to issue Russian passports to Ukrainian citizens and cement their control over occupied territories.
The Ukrainian Navy claimed to have pushed the Russian Black Sea Fleet more than 100 km from the Ukrainian coast, likely to reduce the pressure of the Russian blockade on Ukraine’s southern ports.

I worked on a deal with a Russian CEO, company funded by an oil oligarch, who spoke very little about Putain and only in a hushed voice in an empty parking lot. He was not a fan then in 2015.

Okay:
1) Now you trust the media.
2) Link?
Seems to me, with what's been posted ITT, we are looking at a stalemate at the moment.
Going by the history of this war, a stalemate is not a positive thing for the Russians.
It would seem that they are being set up for a counter-attack.
I have to assume that the counter-attack will not only be successful, but catch the Russians completely by surprise. That's how poor their command has been throughout this "Military Exercise".

Lt. Gen. Roman Berdnikov, formerly the commander of Russian troops in Syria, is believed to have died Sunday, possibly in the same battle that killed Russian Maj. Gen. Roman Kutuzov, Russian-language Telegram channel Volya Media reported.
[Both] generals were in an armored column that was ambushed by Ukrainian forces, possibly on a bridge somewhere in the Donbas, according to the report. The exact details of the exchange are not yet known.
