Not true. The entire top echelon of ABS management are former USCG officers. They would stamp anything the USN told them to.

If I am not mistaken, the Navy has its own bureau of ship certification. ABS applies to merchant ships. For merchant ships there is also Lloyds and Norske Veritas, but I am going on memory from decades ago

Evidently Russia lost 2 generals the other day, I only heard about the one.

A second Russian general is reportedly dead after heavy fighting in Ukraine’s eastern Donbas region over the weekend.
Lt. Gen. Roman Berdnikov, formerly the commander of Russian troops in Syria, is believed to have died Sunday, possibly in the same battle that killed Russian Maj. Gen. Roman Kutuzov, Russian-language Telegram channel Volya Media reported.
The generals were in an armored column that was ambushed by Ukrainian forces, possibly on a bridge somewhere in the Donbas, according to the report. The exact details of the exchange are not yet known.

I’m also going to doubt his/her take is correct.
It will be much shorter than 50 years.

Interesting timing.

The Army on Monday activated the new 11th Airborne Division in Alaska, a historic move that brings the service's 12,000 soldiers in the state under a single banner.
The change will bring the service closer to its mission in Alaska of mastering the frigid, inhospitable Arctic terrain. Previously, two of its brigades were loosely associated with the 25th Infantry Division, an element known for its specialty in jungle warfare. The new division has also folded in U.S. Army Alaska, which mostly served a headquarters role in the region.
Interesting timing.

You are correct, I was just joking with another poster who insinuated war with China would hurt due to depriving ABS of workers...
Naval warships are not classed. ABS does issue Class Certification and Certificates of Inspection on behalf of USCG though.

Sladkov on Major-General Roman Kutuzov
CORPS COMMANDER ROMAN KUTUZOV: THE FOURTH RUSSIAN GENERAL TO DIE IN BATTLE.
In regards to our losses of generals in the Donbass. It's a shame, he was a good man. A 'native' of the Airborne Forces. We became friends when he was the commander of a regiment.
On the one hand, again a general led the attack. As if there aren't enough colonels (majors, captains, sergeants...). But on the other hand, Roman was like any other commander, albeit of higher rank.
Now tell me, how is it with Ukraine? AFU [Armed Forces of Ukraine] go on the retreat, and then what? They're trying to pass a law allowing Ukrainian commanders to shoot subordinates who won't go into battle. Whereas our general gets up and, by his own example, leads soldiers into the attack.
From Gleb Bazov

Who is Glen Bazov and why does that matter?

I have a typo there, it’s Gleb Bazov.
Gleb chronicled the war back in 2014, sharing local Russian language reports in English, and passing on his own comments. He’s from the area originally, IIRC.
He’s continued to write about the Donbas for a western audience ever since.
Here he’s sharing the comments of one of the generals friends, a famous Russian war reporter.
Russians see war the way southerners do, they believe in sacrifice. And they honor courage. They do not see war the way Hollywood does. Dying for something means something to the Russians.

They had to go to Sweden to get someone to rule them because they couldn't take care of themselves.
