I agree with you but I just don't ever see Louisiana giving it up. The corruption runs too deep here and it's pretty much past the point of no return. I can't wait to move out this state once all our kids are graduated. Me and the wife are getting the frick out.

Part of the formula to calculate LA income tax factors in your federal tax liability. So if your federal liability goes down, your LA deduction goes up = higher state tax.
Yeah it's literally in the quoted text in the OP.
They updated the withholding table though. Which is why this is news.

Throw in the 25¢ gas tax, and now most of this board is getting fricked.

Why did they wait before issuing this? This would have been known almost 2 months ago.

That’s another reason I love living in Tennessee!! No state income tax
What kind of moron thinks that the type of tax you pay matters? The government is gonna get your money one way or another.

We are not going to retire in LA- leaving floods, hurricanes, income taxes, growing crime rate and dirty politics behind
Posted on 2/16/18 at 1:12 pm to SPEEDY
I’m seriously considering moving out of Louisiana. I’m tired of our retarded taxes.

You can't avoid income taxes. I can plan to avoid different kind of taxes. For example, if I don't own property, I don't have property tax.

For me it might mean about $100 a year additional going to LA. Nothing big.

I understand why but I'd still like to see the language in the constitution as a source doc.
Constitution allows for a deduction in the amount of federal income tax you paid.
Less federal income tax you pay, less deduction.
I mean, it's really simple.
