Not getting press... but this is going to affect corporations as well, as they also get to deduct federal income tax from state taxable income.

There was a constitutional amendment a couple of years ago to remove the federal deduction for corps from the constitution. It did not pass. There was also an idea (still floating around) to remove the deduction for individuals as well, in exchange for lower rates.

Can't forget JBE's gas tax hike that will go everywhere but roads as per the casino monies that were supposedly dedicated to education.

Casino money does go towards education. The other money that went towards education was applied elsewhere.

The really fricked up part is that no one has the balls to call for a convention because they know the opposite party will use it to make political hay.

I’m am absolutely furious over this BS notice. I got the email informing me of this change on 2/13 and it was implemented on 2/15. WTF how could I possibly implement this bull shite? My payroll was posted on the morning of the 13th for the 16th.
LDR is totally f¥€£up! My payroll is automated and only Quickbooks can change the programming. Who knows when they will update the program.
I’m sure I will get some fine from these idiots.
I’m sick of dealing with the arrogant Incompetency . They usually have no idea wtf they are doing.

For me it might mean about $100 a year additional going to LA. Nothing big.

Well shite my calculation must be wrong because I just got the new tax table and my math had me paying 832/year more to LA.

Same here....we got the notice yesterday and notified our ERP shortly after and they were like "Huh???". Then 2 hrs later they got it and said they would try to have it by today but not to hold our breath.

The state ain't smart enough to realize that you underwitheld on a single period on a days' notice.

Just get it updated for the next run.

Understand what's happening. The state is trying to get the money now so they can count it towards this fiscal year, as opposed to having to wait to collect it next year's tax time.

It's not a new tax table... it's a new withholding table.

So a law that's been around since 1974 caught you by surprise?

Whose fault is that?

In this case, isn't it better than the alternative? If your fed rates didn't impact your state rates, that means you have not been able to deduct fed rates from your taxable income for state tax calculations.

What am I supposed to do make the damn withholding tables up myself and send them to a huge national ERP and say "Yep these are right!!"?

We have to have something from the state to tell us what the damn withholdings (and their calculations) are now.

The bottom line is the fact that this was released yesterday is a damn joke. They should have had these out when the final US withholdings were released back in January.

Wouldn't they be exactly the same you just adjust the fed rates?

Either way, I agree with you. That's a pretty unrealistic administrative burden to have a 48 hr turn around on that.

So unfortunately I don't code our ERP and don't have access to the source so I couldn't adjust the calculation even if I did want to touch their crappy code.
