Louisiana has 837 cases and 20 deaths. Let’s stop being so dramatic. Most of the cases in LA are in New Orleans. Try to figure out where the most testing is done.

you think Nola is the only area in the world that is increasing testing?

You can't possibly know that. You'll never know what would have happened on the paths not chosen.

And if he had enacted this a week ago you would be in here talking about what a major over-reaction this is and how he is single handedly ruining our economy. This shelter in place is really not much different than what we have already had, it’s just now they are closing salons, clothing stores, etc. Even the restaurants are still doing delivery and to-go. You can still go grocery shopping, etc.

he's ruining our economy either way

one would lead to less spread of the virus

Jake. Tell us exactly what you would have done if you were governor. And don't base it on what you know now..

And 100% on John Bel right???

oh no. either a delayed/slow (boiling) scenario or a quick one would tank our economy

JBE is responsible for letting the spread go due to this policy choice, because it's the one that gave a week+ of extra spread with nothing to show for it (since he ramped up the restrictions anyway)

People keep talking about Mardi Gras a month ago. If you picked it up then, you already had it then probably recovered from it.

why?

if our ultimate landing place was here (and that's assuming it doesn't get worse), then why weren't efforts ramped up earlier?

you can't argue that less restrictive measures worked or that there was some philosophical demarcation that would prevent the shelter in place, since it ultimately happened

so it raises the question, why wait so long when you knew this was where we'd end up?

Did JBE have enough information at the time to cancel Mardi Gras?

No, he did not and everyone here would have been in an absolute uproar if he would have even hinted at it. People were pissed about the Irish Parade.

I hate JBE and think he's a slimeball and have said it on here repeatedly, but I don't know what else he could have done here. This is a damn if he does, damn if he doesn't type situation and I would have voted for a dead goat over that guy.

This is bad, very bad but JBE is not the reason.

you don't think isolated the area most likely to cause spread around the state would have helped at all?

Because that was likely when most were exposed. What we’re seeing now are who they infected and beyond. NOLA as a hotspot is no coincidence.
