If this was the end result (and it's likely not and will get worse), then this should have been the first policy enacted over a week ago, specifically in the area most likely to spread.

This week (or so) has allowed exponential spread and they knew it was going to happen. Now they want to lecture the state? Just terrible.

*ETA: changed JBE to LA Gov't in the title

Lecture New Orleans metro area. Don’t punish the whole state.

This should have been done in New Orleans a week ago.

The spread is linked to Mardi Gras.

The Mardi Gras fiasco was caused by the hard rock collapse.

The hard rock collapse happened because lee is unhappy for being moved.

Therefore.... corona is the fault of Mitch the bitch and co.

I imagine hundreds of thousands from around the state and surrounding states were in NOLA for mardi gras.

This was no longer just a new orleans issue several weeks ago.

People are besides themselves now because he just enacted the "shelter in place" rule.

If I had to guess, this was probably the plan all along, they just wanted to easy the public into it. But if I was a 2nd term governor, I wouldn't care how many people I pissed off, I would have put it in place last week instead of having to do it in baby steps just because there would be some butthurt people.

i'm not?

this is logic. this gradual increase makes sense in only 2 scenarios

1. we are a frog in boiling water and they've lied to us and allowed exponential spread

2. they are incompetent and have no idea what they're doing

If he had done this before taking the other actions, you know DAMN frickING WELL you and everyone else would bitch that he didn’t try other things first. He insinuated in every way that if nobody listened, this was coming. He made it obvious he didn’t want to do this. Nobody stayed home, though.

Quit bitching over an order that’s basically the same as we’ve already had.

If you’re not following it, then you’re to blame. Not JBE.

* full disclosure *
I didn’t vote for JBE either time but I do respect good leadership regardless of what party it comes from and JBE is doing a fine job.

They’re just 75% of the problem.

Basically the only way to have prevented this shite from happening would be if our leaders imposed draconian measures to nola and around the whole state LONG before this was even on the radar for most people.

Like cancelling mardi gras when 90%+ of the population hadn't even heard of covid. Good fricking luck with that.

I made a supply run after this announcement (b/c people are going crazy). I'm grilling burgers and some korean BBQ chicken in a bit.

The whole state is irrelevant without New Orleans metro area.

we could have stopped a lot of spread outside of the Nola area if we locked down Nola/JP 2 weeks ago. hell even 1 week ago

i'll bet you this is why Gordy Mac was telling his employees not to let people from OP/JP in. he had that inside info from his boy JBE
