But we refinanced in March so I get to “skip” April.

Yeah my tenant, who just got laid off probably won’t pay me.. Extenuating circumstances though, as she’s my girlfriend. Yeah so I’m screwed

Man, I am really surprised how many people have zero savings
My gf, who literally makes 3x what I do, had zero money two weeks ago. I've been telling her to save for a year with no luck.
It seems to have finally clicked.
And now she gets it.
Thanks corona.

Do you know anyone not paying their rent this month
I haven't asked.
Our work hasn't missed a days work or pay. I have family members that own their own businesses and aren't skipping payments in the first month of this.
My wife and I will cover our children's rent if they can't make it.
It seems a lot of people are wanting to skip out because they think property owners have shite tons of money to blow.
The same people that have no clue about cash flow in a business.

I’m by no means a frugal person, but there’s a special satisfaction from saving and watching the like grow in a high yield savings account.

We are very fortunate currently to live in a home that was given to my SO.
Also fortunate to not be out of work.
That’s my biggest issue right now. Got laid off a couple of weeks ago, finally filed for unemployment for the first time in my life today. It’s rough, but I know I’ve got it better than a lot of people out there right now. Bought a ton of seeds at Walmart and started a neighborhood/community garden last week.

I bet a lot of my landlord’s other tenants didn’t pay rent this month. I hope I get a thank you email or something.

Now I do agree with you here. Some part time workers at Sephora were bitching that they are laying them off. These are the part time cashiers and they’ve been paid the last 2 weeks AND are being given a week of severance. For not working.
They seem to think there’s an endless stream of money that can afford keeping them

One of my tenants called today, terribly upset, crying, said her business had been shut down, and she was not going to be able to make the rent. She has been a wonderful tenant for years, and has always paid on time with no issues.
I told her don’t worry about it, we are all living in a crap hole right now, we will just figure it out as we go. I truly believe in karma, and I have had people cut me some slack back when things weren’t going so great for me. It feels nice to pay it forward.
Nice!

My main savings account isn't all that great. I save about 10-15% of each paycheck.
But I have another account at a local bank where all side hustle, right of ways, and what not go.
I don't really monitor the contents, just have alerts set up if anything comes out of it.
Truth be told, I don't want to know exactly what's in it.

He’s still got to pay it eventually

Yeah, some people rent out their house at even or slight negative cash flow because they can’t sell the house without bringing a hefty check to closing.

I hear you there!
I save a % of each paycheck, but the real padding is from the lump sums I get. My annual Christmas bonus, my lovely parents’ Christmas gift of $2k every year, etc. This stimulus thing will go directly into it.
I can’t fathom being awarded a lump sum like that and needlessly spending it.

Bro, are we getting college football this year or nah? I feel like you're a voice of reason in this cesspool.

I paid all my bills for April except the cable, which is autodrafted in a couple of weeks
