Knife guys: stiletto automatic (switchblade)

I’m not interested in some high end Italian knife, but wouldn’t mind having a budget model to keep in my truck door if needed.
The ones that I’m seeing in my price range (under $50) are Chinese made with stainless blades. I’m not opposed to that, but is there one brand or two that are decent quality?
Switchblades were really romanticized when I was young, and I’ve always kinda wanted one.

Get a good OTF.
When you say you want it in your truck in case you need it, what are you thinking you might need it for?

The only certainty in a knife fight is everyone is getting severely fricked up

This. If you want it for self-defense just keep a handgun in there.

If you ever decide to splurge and treat yourself to one really nice, I highly recommend Microtech. Start in the low $300's I think.
Fairly expensive but I've had it for years as my truck knife. Something happened with the spring at one point and they fixed it no questions asked and sharpened the blade. Very versatile. Cleaned a deer with it this past weekend.

If you want some OTF knives for the novelty, just get a couple Master Cutlery knives from Palmetto State Armory and call it a day. They're fun for what they are and perform well enough at light tasks for the money.
If you want an OTF for real, heavy-duty use then IMO the OTF route is the wrong way to go and nowhere remotely worth what it costs to be worse for the job compared to a different kind of knife (I.e. folder, fixed, etc.)

So one day I was jogging on the Lakefront and on the ground was a clean stilleto.
First time I ever saw one.

I have two benchmades, one two decades old and the other a decade old and both still function great. Need to send them in for some PM though.

All I know is that in knife attacks, the person wielding the knife almost always fricks themselves up a bit as well.
I've watched a lot of Dateline to come to this conclusion

Every man carries a knife
But if you need a knife and you are in your truck I suggest putting the truck in drive and gtfo of the situation!

I have one that I will sell you. Got it at an auction a while back. Wasn't the cheapest and certainly not the most expensive.

It’s a butterfly knife, but still. Good movie and book.

Flips open as fast as a stilleto
