Go see Dr. Robert Kidd in Hammond at Southeast Urology! He helped my brother get to where he's 80% better with a fairly simple program. I have watched my brother scream like he was being murdered for hours before so I know they suck.

Make sure you go see Dr. Robert Kidd his office located on the North Oaks hospital campus.

The wrong fricking thing. My mom had 23 of those things and she eventually died from the complications of having a stent replaced every three months. Good luck, OP.

Wait, what?

May I ask how old she was? I work in this particular field of Urology is why I’m asking.

Also, sorry for your loss.

I used to get them
used to eat a pack of sunflower seeds and drank unsweet tea all day
cut that out
also cut back on dairy, very little ice cream
drink 3/4 of a gallon per day of water
no more kidney stones

sunflower seeds have protein and salt, tea has binders in it, dairy has excess calcium

Had a 4.5mm removed back in 2018. Got a 7.5-8mm sitting in my right kidney. Luckily that bastard hasn’t moved any.

Passed a BB last week. No that’s not a joke, it was that size. Hurt like hell, but not as bad as the bout after my youngest was born.

Lyptotriptic….they make it sound so easy, and the procedure is. The gravel does have to go somewhere.

Took 2 morphine shots and Toredol to get me to quit screaming.

I don't get the downvotes but this is the truth. It's more than likely from years of not hydrating properly.

Yep. My urologist told me to drink a beer or two and it would help move it along.

Find a new Urologist if that's the best the current one can do. My Dr. had me bring in the stones I had saved and he sent them to a lab for analysis.

It came back that uric acid was the root cause of my stones. That is the same thing that can cause gout in many people, but for some reason it hits me with kidney stones.

I was put on a daily dose of Allopurinol that has greatly reduced the event of stones, but not totally eliminated them. The pill, along with lots of fluids daily have helped a lot.

Passing my 1st stone at 21 decades ago hurt like hell. Last two more recently were uncomfortable but nowhere near as bad. Doc has me on oral citrate now, and I'll see how that goes. Hopefully anybody with stones get's a chemical analysis of one and a 24 hr urinalysis. If there is an imbalance, they can try to correct it.

Have you ever had a stent put in place when they go in to break up the stone and remove it?

If not, thank your lucky stars because that visit 2 weeks later to the Drs. office to have them remove it is at the very least, an uncomfortable experience.

The whole contraption, once removed is close to a foot long and they pull it out through your one-eyed head.

Damn son they did that with you awake. frick that I was under when I got mine and when they were removed. When the doc was telling me I had to have surgery I asked where they would cut me he didn’t even have to answer I looked at his expression and I said you’re going through my dick aren’t you? Do what you gotta do doc. The stents also suck I pissed blood for two months but I was so blocked my kidneys were failing so it was absolutely necessary. Also with stents you have no shut off so when you gotta go you go even if you gotta jump out of the truck and piss in the street.

Uhh. That’s not normal. You need to catch one of those things and have it tested to see what it’s made up of and then you need to drop that from your diet.

Or drink some freaking water.

1st and only time I got one I thought it was just stomach upset from drinking coffee on an empty stomach, then it just got progressively worse, I thought it was either appendix burst or the most severe stomach cramps ever, I was balled up in my mattress in fetal position (somehow this relieved it a little) rocking back and forth it hurt so bad, then went to the toilet to throw up, then my mom drove me to an urgent care and I was yelling over every bump we hit on the roads/interstate, even the radio being on hurt. I wanted dead silence and no motion. Urgent care was closed and so we went to ER. Right when I got to the ER, it stopped hurting. Apparantly it had gotten through the smaller orifice. This whole time I had no clue it was a kidney stone. It felt like I had the worst stomach cramps ever like I had run full speed for 75 miles, the kind of stomach cramps you'd get from that if you never run. Was surprised when doc told me it was stones because I was 29, 6'2" 175 lbs, not overweight at all or old. That pain stretch lasted 8 hours.

Most bizarre thing is that I never was aware I passed it. I went for checkup thinking it was still there (2 dif docs said it was 7 mm and other said 4 mm). X ray showed it was gone when I was sure it was still there. I just thought I'd notice pissing a 4-7 mm stone.

It's the very first step in the process of passing one that it hurts the worst, when it moves from kidney to urea. Apparently peeing it out doesn't hurt that bad. Not gonna lie, after X-Ray showed it was gone, I still took 3-4 days off of work saying I was in pain from it to milk it . I deserved it after that hahaha.

Yep. I've had 3 removed over the years and all of them while fully awake.

Go in the exam room, nurse came in with instructions to disrobe from the waist down and put on the gown and climb in the chair like they use in an OBGYN's office.

Then she took a gel lubricant with a deadening agent and rubbed it on the one eyed head and waited a few minutes then inserted a plastic nozzle into the pee hole and shot more gel and deadener into my junk.

Dr. and nurse come back in about 10 minutes later and the fun starts. He inserts a tube up the junk first to get to the stent, then inside that tube goes a gizmo like a mini claw machine to grab the stent. Once the stent is secure it's just a matter of all of that being pulled out all at once and that is the weirdest feeling I've ever felt concerning my manhood.

For me, almost immediately when that stent is removed I HAVE to pee and there's nothing I can do to stop it from coming. Thank goodness there was one of the hospital bed absorbent pads under me or I'd have pissed all over the floor.

Had an 8 to 10mm stone a few years ago. When it was leaving kidney, I wanted to die.

Pissing it out after the lithotripsy (biggest piece was maybe 3mm) was a breeze compared to when it left the kidney for the ureter.

I had a 10mm stone get infected and I needed a stent. It was a stubborn infection so I ended up keeping the stent in for 6 weeks. When they went to pull it out it had fused to my urethra.

I’ll take childbirth any day over that.
