The biggest one in my kidney was 3/4 inches round and I had to take drugs to break it up chemically so it could make it's way out in several pieces. That was a fun summer.............NOT

I had a big one about ten years ago. Had lithotripsy to break it up. Pissed sand afterward.

They suck. Wouldn’t wish them on my worst enemy. I’ve had the lithotripsy, stents, and can’t tell you how many I’ve passed. Vitamin shop has some stuff called stone breaker that is some disgusting mix of liquid licorice and shite but it helps. Pro tip don’t mix it with water put the drops straight in your mouth and chase it with fresh water to wash the taste away.

Not fat but admittedly I don’t hydrate properly. Recently started to supplement by going to hydration bar to get iv fluids and that helps immensely. I also have to avoid food high in oxalates nuts, beans, beets, etc. it’s a long list of stuff I’m not supposed to eat.

Urologist told me to start using citric acid in my diet (Lemon juice in water). He said it helps the stone material dissolve.

I’ve been doing this for a few years now- half lemon in my cup after I wash it from coffee. Stays in there the rest of the day. I don’t think we have a big family history of them, but good to know i’m helping prevent them anyway

It's just pain bubba. Pull your skirt up.

This coming from a guy that's been " diagnosed" over 50 times. I stay pissing blood.

Honestly, the worst pain I ever had was from the lithro surgery. That stint thing was brutal. I was in the ER 3 days after the surgery because of the pain. Percs didn't help

If you go to the e.r. and they diagnose it as a stone ask for a shot of Toradol first thing. It's a miracle anti-inflammatory for kidney stones.

Been there, done that, twice.

Had to have one busted up sonically and the second surgically.

They're avoidable.

I've never had a kidney stone and I used to kill a twelve pack of coke zeros a day.

Passing kidney stones was never the most painful part.

It was them scratching through the urethra. That's why the pain comes and goes. It moves, causing crazy pain. Then it stops, and you get some relief.

Even though its coke 12 is still a lot of fluid. My problem is I just sip all day and only have 3-4 drinks per day whether it’s water or soda. I get preoccupied and just don’t take in enough fluid of any kind.

No doubt. First kidney stone I ever had was while I was at work. Pain was astronomical along with nausea and cold sweats.

An ambulance was called because I wasn't in any condition to drive myself to the emergency room. The minute they got me in it the EMT gave me a shot of Toradol. Pain subsided almost immediately, at least for several minutes. EMT described it as ibuprofen on steroids.

Toradol is a powerful NSAID like Advil yes

It was developed specifically for kidney stones. It helps soften the contraction of the ureters.

So much so that if you have horrible pain and they give you toradol and it goes away it’s pretty much diagnostic for a kidney stone.

I’ve only had one when I was 17. I was begging for death. Worst thing I’ve ever experienced.

Can’t imagine being some of you baws passing multiple ones a YEAR what the actual frick????

Haven't ever *knock on wood* had one but know they are painful.
Watched my Grandad dig a chunk of steel out of my dads leg because he didn't want to go to the doctor. Dad then had a kidney stone hit him one day and he had me take him immediately to the ER.

Good luck with that.
