I wrote him about a month ago, when he swam across the English Channel. Now he walked to his mother's house and finished his journey.

I'd think it was pretty cool if he was childless. But it was pretty scumbagish to leave his son, who was either 5 or 8 at the time he started the expedition, depending on what source you believe.

Anyway, he didn't do the really, really based thing and walk all the way to the southern tip of South Africa. Walking through Sudan and South Sudan in particular would have almost made up for his scumbaggishness in abandoning his son.

He walked across the Bering Strait when it froze over during the winter.

28 years? That seems like a total waste of time. Walking the Appalachian trail or something is cool enough.

Did it take him 28 yrs straight through or would he just walk for a month or 2 then go home and come back to where he left off?

Due to visa restrictions, he usually could only stay in a country for 90 days at a time.

He had a headquarters in Mexico City that he would go to when his visas expired. And then when his visa got renewed, he'd restart from the exact spot where he was when his visa previously expired.

He also had to take about two years off his trek after the 2008 financial crash due to running out of sponsors, and then take roughly another 2 years off during COVID due to border restrictions. Then the Ukraine-Russia war heated up shortly after he resumed his treck post-COVID, so he had to swim the Caspian Sea from Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan rather than walking through Iran or Russia.

He never returned to Britain during his breaks, because one of his rules was that he couldn't set foot in Britain (even to visit his son) until the end of his expedition.

Unlike this halfwit:

Since beginning the Goliath Expedition, Bushby has rarely seen his son, although Adam joined him briefly for part of his protest walk across the United States in 2014.[5] When Bushby arrived home in 2026, he met his 12-year-old granddaughter for the first time.[6]

The only thing I can say about this dude is that wasn’t he doing this as the result of a bar bet with his buddies?

I can respect that on some level.

Sounds like the Urban League might offer him an honorary membership.

He actually did get arrested at least twice- once when he got out of the Darien Pass, and then a second time when he arrived in Uelen after walking over the Bering Strait.
