I saw some of those posts. While they aren’t technically wrong, don’t fricking post it. It’s the industry we chose to work in and EVERYONE knows it’s cyclical.

I been in this business for 30 years and I've never seen anything like yesterday. I've never not had a job nor felt like my job or the prospects of getting was tenuous. I assumed the negative price was a panic driven anomaly, which it looked like it was. But this is as nervous as I've been about future prospects and I'm in as good a position for future work as I have ever been.

The price is lower than I ever expected to see it again. Anybody who cheers either very low or very high prices is not really thinking it through.

And I do agree, why post that crap.

As do a lot of industries but they too have to live and die by the market demands AKA free enterprise. I do think it's silly that there are people out there thinking other working-class people should blindly find a way to prop up O&G. No one bailed me out when I had a ton of spec homes on the ground during the mortgage crises. I had to live with the hand that was dealt to me. It's life.

Why are there so many retards on this website who think this oil price crash is a result of free market economics? The government literally shut down travel and artificially cratered demand. That's not free market

It’s very entertaining. Are they going to recall the spoiled oil field wife and oil field trash spending oil field cash stickers?

Why do so many people insist on falsely attributing everything to black people?

I mean, fried chicken, peanut butter, and now our memes?

Is there nothing sacred?

Oil fields always been volatile. It’s why guys with little to no marketable skills are payed such good money to work it. It is what it is. Take your money in the fat times and prepare for the lean times. Unfortunately, that’s not what they do. They buy f250s, UTVs, and tattoos and go broke when oil prices, yet again, crash.

Gasoline prices right now are lower than they have ever been historically when you adjust for inflation (which is a must). $1.61 adjusted in the late 60's was the previous low.

You are repeating a common lefty talking point without actually knowing the facts.

Oil production is taxed by the feds at 24% and theres also royalties taken out at the state and federal levels. In the GOM the royalties can range from 12-18% on top of the corp tax rate. Lets not forget the taxes that the feds and states stack on top of the cost of every gallon of gasoline which can be substantial. To act as if the O&G industry is propped up by the government is not only factually wrong its flat out absurd (unlike some renewables). O&G tax and royalty revenues are huge cash cows for state and federal government.

Funny you forgot to mention Russia and Saudi flooded the markets which played just as big of a factor in getting to where we are. You didn't mention it because that is free market causation and goes against your point. At least be honest and include all data otherwise you're just a hack.

They didn't flood the markets, the just couldn't agree on production cuts. World oil production has been steadily rising and mostly driven by US production. This event has way more to do with drastic reduction in demand combined with lack of commensurate production cutbacks.

1. They didn’t just flood the markets. They got in a dispute over how much production to cut in response to reduced demand, and neither side would budge.
2. How in the frick does OPEC and Russia’s dispute over a price fixing agreement remotely resemble a free market?

There is nothing “free market” about OPEC and national oil companies.
