Not true at all. Plant I work in 18 hour shifts is routine. I've worked multiple 18's in a single week. And trust me, OSHA lurks around our site as much as any.

I worked for a metallurgical testing lab. I went to work one Friday at 10 AM, didnt leave till Saturday at 4 PM, watched the son go down, come back up and start to go down again. Did take a couple little power naps but we were balls to the walls most of the time.

I worked a normal day. Like 6 hours. It was great. I'll probably do it again today.

Typical call night in residency was me getting to the hospital at 6am and then finally leaving at 1pm the next day. And, that was only due to new work hour limits capping the number of hours one could work consecutively. Otherwise it would have been after 5 pm.

The most miserable i have ever been was working an emergency turnaround in Wyoming and we worked 13 days straight 16 hours a day with some days rolling into 17+ hours. Id rather work a 2 month shutdown at 12 hours a day than 13 days of 16s. By day about 4 you are like a zombie. However i do like the money.

That’s is usually a normal day during tax season, but with the addition of the SBA business loan process, not enough hours on the day.

16's are tough. Anytime you're at work till 1 am it'll take a lot out of you. you just may not notice until a day or two later lol.
I once worked a 24 hour shift. Everyone working with me left between 12-16 but I stayed all night running head loss calcs and system curves to have some data to cover my arse if anything went wrong. When everyone got back the next morning I looked like this:
But the plan worked.
And they gave me a $25 gift card to Chili's for my dedication. Can't put a price tag on that.
ETA: All of this is to say, I will not be doing that again

Back in my day, we used to wake up THREE HOURS before we went to sleep to get the horses ready for the next day’s work.

Done 18 hour days before. Boss on a Friday would tell us we need 10 hours of OT per worker by Sunday so I would just work my 8 and then continue past for ten hiurs
