We went from right under $800 to right over $900. I won't complain as I heard someone on the radio this am say their premium is $3200 per month ... YES I heard it right as he repeated it about 3 times ... but it still sucks.
BCBS-LA; individual policy; I'm 47 he's 46; no pre-existing conditions; nonsmokers; $5600 ded; 80/20 after that.
We ARE a grandfathered policy and I'm still trying to find out what happens if we become "ungrandfathered" ... seems no one can really tell us.

Family plan Premium up 28%. Deductible up to 6200. OoP up to 11,200. My son is on the Autism spectrum so I'll spend a little over 20k on medical this coming year. Anyone know where you can sell a kidney?

Can someone explain this in a little more detail. I thought the ENTIRE POINT of the Affordable Care Act was to give people a free option of insurance.
If you had a paid plan that you preferred, you could keep it. Of course, the Act was not supposed to increase insurance premiums. Right??

I feel like I am the only person I know that health ins went down. My company switched from blue cross blue shield to united. My premium went down $35 per month, deductible stayed the same at 4,000 and my out of pocket max went from 13,100 to $7200. This is for a me and one child plan, high desuctible plan. I pay $148 per paycheck. Guess I should feel lucky after hearing all of these crazy rates.

You had a super majority in Congress and the Presidency for nearly a year after Obama was elected. You could've passed anything y'all wanted. Anything.
Oh and btw, it's scary as shite how so many people are true believers in single payer while ignoring the biggest example of how government run healthcare doesn't work in the VA.

Some people get insurance for free, some pay for insurance. The people that pay for insurance have to pay for the ones that get it for free. Its a pretty simple concept.

I spent the past 20 years in healthcare before walking away earlier this year. The last decade was spent in healthcare administration.
Don't confuse the ACA with the problem. It's just a symptom of a widespread disease throughout the American healthcare complex.
When your car breaks down you have a choice of mechanics and even parts. You can find a shade tree mechanic and buy a non-OEM part if you choose. You also get an estimate up front. To a degree, you as the consumer have choices. I'm aware of no other industry where you receive service only to find out what it costs later.
Therein lies the issue. The consumer doesn't get to control the narrative. Pharmaceutical companies, insurers, hospitals and the Physician lobby do. All of these entities have an profit motive which continues to drive up the cost of healthcare regardless of the ACA. Google the salaries of the executives and administrative vs payout in benefits for a major insurer sometime. Also look at Pharma and hospital Execs.
Until these things are reigned in the problem will persist. I'm not optimistic that this will happen given the heavy bureaucratic system we've created. It's unfortunate, but I'm 100% convinced that a single payer system is an inevitability for the US at some point.

blue cross of la ..got mine monday....from 3600 and 485 to 4500 and 720.
