If you have a PE license with 15 plus years of experience in power engineering and you aren’t employed right now there’s something wrong with you. I get 5-10 messages per week on LinkedIn from all over the country and that’s been going on for 2 years now. The demand is sky high and the labor pool is almost non existent. Salaries continue to sky rocket with no real end in sight.
On the flood map, lower right corner, the larger red dot in the middle of the large dark area, below the word old Jefferson, that’s the neighborhood I live in. An island. Required flood insurance, in a flood zone and didn’t flood. Still can’t believe it.
The lsu alumni association puts on trips to the away games each year. The one for the Oklahoma game they are chartering a Southwest jet out of New Orleans, direct to Oklahoma City. The hotel is the renaissance down town. Comes with a ticket to the game, round trip plane ticket, 2 nights stay at hotel, bus transfer to and from game, reception Friday night at hotel which includes drinks, and tailgate the day of game which includes open bar and food.

Kinda pricey but I went to the Missouri game 2 years ago and the South Carolina game last year. Can’t beat the non stop flights. Also they take good care of you. Everything is planned out. You just show up and sit back and enjoy the trip. So to me it’s been worth it especially to the smaller SEC towns that are further away.
I reserved my spot last week on the traveling tigers trip.

Did you take your PE as soon as you could, or did you wait a while? Probably vastly different level of difficulty in preparation if you wait 10-15 years.

This. I waited 10 years after graduation to take the FE exam. This was in 2018. Failed the first time passed the second. Went right into the PE exam the next year. I found the FE exam harder because I waited so long to take it. But getting back into study mode after 10 years was tough in general. Especially having a family, juggling life and studying.

Wrong on all accounts. It’s storming. Been lucky to get game 3 in at all tonight.
I booked my plane ticket last night since it was refundable. I booked my hotel as soon as the ball made it to the outfield. Was in elementary and middle school in the 90’s. Grew up watching tiger baseball. Always wanted to go to Omaha. Came up with dumb excuses not to go in 2017 and 2023. I told myself this year as I approach 40 I’m not passing up another chance to see us win a natty in Omaha. I’m pumped. Bucket list item for sure. And I was in the stands in Alex Box in 2016. It’s revenge time.

This is me. lol. People in my office think I’m weird. I’ve been doing it for about 5 years now.
Interested. Email me.

I asked her how the grades are and she said the test averages are always high C or low B.

That semi prepares kids for the electrical engineering curriculum in college. I remember plenty of tests where the avg was in the 30’s.

I paid way more than face value for my 2007 NCG Tickets and sat in the nose bleeds. The game mattered to me. I had a damn good time. Would I have put myself in debt to go, probably not.

I was a freshman for the 03 title game and did not win the student ticket lottery. In 07 I was a 5th year senior and it had gone to a priority point system and I got 2 tickets for a total of $350 in the student section. Missed the 11 game but was not missing 19. Paid $1000 to sit in the 600 level. It was worth it to me. And it was amazing. All this to say I guess I can’t judge my wife and daughter for wanting to go. Just get the credit card out and let it go.
Just got back from Columbia. That was number 12 of 15 for me. I have Norman, Austin, and Athens left on my list. LSU hasn’t made a trip to Athens since 2013. We were scheduled to go in 2025 before the conference expansion. Hoping they get us back on the schedule soon.
Got back to BR this morning from Columbia. You are spot on. The atmosphere was lit. You have to give them credit. They showed up and stayed loud the entire game. I was disappointed when the game time was announced several weeks back but man that was a great atmosphere.

Park MGM isnt bad, also smoke free, nice sports bar/book and Nomad Bar is nice. You ranked too low.

Yeah I like park. Smoke free as you said. When I get tired of smelling smoke it’s a good casino to gamble at. The restaurants are awesome. We ate at the library, bavettes, and prim rose. They did a really good job at renovating it from the old Monte Carlo. The center bar is pretty cool as well as the eataly area in the front. I’ve stayed at park on previous trips and the rooms are just ok. They really couldn’t reconfigure them from the old layout of the Monte Carlo so they worked with what they had. At one point mgm was thinking about leveling Monte Carlo and starting from scratch but it would have been too much money. But overall a good casino.

Left on the 8:20am Southwest direct flight to MSY. Las Vegas Airport traffic was already starting to back up pretty good at 6am. But I was back in BR at 3:30pm

Prim rose at park. Really good avocado toast. Get it with a poached egg. That’s my go to brunch place on the strip.

People who are saying their room was comped acting like they don’t still charge you resort fees lol

I stay at mgm properties when I go to Vegas and have been for the past 15 years. I’ve gotten comped resort fees in the past. It’s been a while since I’ve had that though especially in the upper tier hotels with mgm. But I’m not a baller so I’m sure some people still get the fully comped offers.

However I’m staying at the vdara, 4 comped nights, $100 resort credit, and $50 free play and it’s only costing me $200 in resort fees. That’s a hell of a deal for a hotel like the vdara on a holiday weekend on the strip.

And we have a companion pass with Southwest this year so it only cost $550 for 2 tickets. And I got the non stop flights out of Msy (booked in early December).

Unfortunately I’ll be spending some coin in other places. Cabana at mgm on Friday, helicopter tour to Grand Canyon Saturday. Got tickets through lsu so that wasn’t too bad. And my wife got us on the Hancock Whitney tailgate vip list for the tailgate at the house of blues so that was free.

Probably all in $3k not counting my bankroll for gambling.
Thursday 4:50pm from MSY; non stop

Friday night - dinner at Bavettes
Saturday - helicopter tour to Grand Canyon
Saturday night - dinner at the library, Michael Jackson show at mandalay then afterwards the foundation room at the top of mandalay

Monday - fly home
Tell your cousin EE and go into power and pass the PE exam. There is a massive shortage of power engineers in this state. This is fueled by a few different issues. First no young people want to go into power. They would rather go the computer route. Second the younger generation doesn’t want to live in this state. That’s a political issue that may never be solved. Third the government is pushing us to go electric and green energy with every thing. The baby boomer generation is retiring in greater numbers every day and there aren’t enough power engineers for the greater number of electrical driven projects that we now have. I get 3-4 LinkedIn messages per week asking if I am interested in a new job. That’s not a brag that’s just reality.

I have 16 years of experience with a PE. My salary has gone bananas in the last 4 years. I’m embarrassed to say how much I make.
