The only thing between the applicants was the racial identification
It's like when Mindy Kaling's brother got rejected from his med school application (Indian) and then applied as a black man and got in. His scores weren't good for med school.

As soon as you mentioned the name of the employer in this thread you likely opened yourself up to legal action by them. What you’re describing sounds pretty damning but I’ve worked with employment lawyers multiple times in the past and if I’ve learned anything, it’s that there always seems to be things that appear pretty illegal that an employer can technically get away with so maybe there’s more to it than what your eye sees. I’m not going to quote the employer’s name, but if I were you, I’d go back and edit it out of your post. Just to be safe.
We don’t, collectively, hate lawyers enough.

Sounds like a talking point lifted from Klan meeting.
No, saying “the United States would be vastly better off if black people never came here in the 1st place” would be a Klan talking point, and they would be correct.

They shouldn’t be able to ask about race on a job application.

You think westlake is going to sue OP for sharing his experience? Bro cmon.

White men who can’t be successful is pretty embarrassing. About the only thing more embarrassing is seeing a smoking hot woman in her mid to late 20s grinding out some stressful admin job. She was born with a lottery ticket and still can’t figure it out. smh

Yup I worked for a large accounting firm (since sold) here in Baton Rouge on the BP settlement. They had hired too many whites in Nola so they had to staff the BR location with lots of blacks. I was passed over multiple times.

Sure, but if they take this to court, wouldn’t they have to explain how they identified the OP….which would completely validate the OP’s claim?
It would be pretty stupid for Westlake to take legal action, but if they’re actually doing what the OP claims, I guess they might be just that stupid.

Low income, white males are the actual most marginalized demographic in this country.
No way you actually believe this.

When did blatant racism become acceptable here?

They’re not doing it because they want to. They’re doing it to prove compliance with EEOC.
The problem as I see it is that the door only seems to swing one way because employers are incentivized to reverse-discriminate their way into compliance and make their organizations “look diverse”.
The standard should be “do not make hiring decisions based on race period”. Regardless of what the outcome of that is. Nobody should care if a department/org/LOB is lilly white or chocolate city as long as nobody got screwed over to make it that way. Equal opportunity, not forced outcome.

If the intent is to show no racial discrimination in hiring, then racial reporting needs to be done on new hires, not job applicants.
Unless they might need to show that they had no minority applicants and so no choice in hiring, or something similar.

I'd take pretty much any job making 60% of what I'm used to at this point.
Man I felt the same way as you about 10 years ago.
I knew what i wanted and definitely knew what i didn't want with regards to finding a new employer. I hung in there with my old employer while 2 other companies' were aggressively coming for me but I did not jump because I knew they were not checking off all the boxes and would end up being a bad fit.
It took almost 2 years and finally got the job I wanted.
I'm saying this just to encourage you to hang in there until you find the perfect fit. It's out there. Stay employed and be patient and you will be thankful that you waited for the right fit.

Yeah I believe it’s “end to end” (screening, to hiring).
In fairness to the EEOC, plenty of applications used to go in the trash because the first name was Jamal or Lakisha, or the applicant’s address was in the “wrong part of town”, so they are trying to address an actual problem. I think they just need to rethink what success looks like.
