I haven’t been in office since March. We had been told Labor Day was when we’d be allowed back. Today, the decision was made to extend to January 4th. It’s partially due to schools not going full time. But also, the company is saving a shitload on operating costs with no one in offices.

Anyone else hearing they’d be working from home that long?

We are currently still on the Labor Day schedule, but I wouldn't be shocked if they extend through the year.

Or at least make it as an optional return.

I've really enjoyed these months at home. Its going to be really hard to go back to normal.

At this point they basically said we have no idea and work from home may be the new normal. Have to put in plans for days you must be in the office

That's become pretty common. My neighbor told me yesterday someone slipped up and spoke out of turn and said they may be working remote until 2023.

I don't care if I ever go back. I'm loving this and have seen that I can perform every one of my job functions great at home. There's no need for an office.

I go back and forth. It’s nice some days and others I get a little depressed having not been around people for days at a time and missing the quick, easy interactions that can solve is issue rather than trying to get someone on the phone or instant message.

Did they give you any ideas on how you are supposed to serve burgers and fries from home?

Not yet. But I have a meeting Thursday and I feel like a WFH extension will be addressed. I won’t be surprised if we get the same thing.

We don't even know what this is going to look like in 2 months. Why on earth would you do something this far out?

They told us we'd be remote at least until Jan 1 back in May. Don't be fooled, it likely has nothing to do with safety and everything to do with reduction in overhead expense.

We brought everybody back in mid-June. With the surge of cases here, the boss has been talking about sending them all back home again

You tell me. Don’t you live in a van and work for Uber Eats? Should be an easy transition for you.

Same here. Was recently told rather than labor day we won't return to the office until Jan 11th.

I was also told that positions like mine will probably be told they NEVER have to return to the office. Work from anywhere boys.

We are likely heading down this road. Time to move out of Louisiana.

I get that.

I'm pretty much on my own at the office anyways, with a corner office in the back of the building and kinda work on my own things independent of everyone else, so its really not that much of a change for me, except now I get to sleep later and be home.

I wouldn't be surprised if my company remains remote indefinitely. This means we don't have to buy a new building, expand parking, buy desks and office equipment, etc.

Not to mention continuing maintenance costs, utilities, etc.

Plus, everyone likes only having to put on proper clothes for video chats and otherwise just wearing whatever.

I have commandeered my son’s play room. He took it better than expected. But I got the desk, dock, multiple monitors. I’m gonna need a nicer chair though.

Our office is opening end of this month for those who want/need to be in the office. Mandatory spacing and you have to use a scheduling app to book time and a desk (no personal workspaces).

Everyone is encouraged to stay home, but there are a few folks eager to get back in the office.

I'm loving WFH, but really miss the "team" aspect. For my direct reports, we are going to meet for 1hr per week at the office until September and then reassess, but that's all I'll be going in for.
