actually reading the study they were focused on the adverse health effects of eating too much red meat. they didn't mention climate at all.
The agenda isn't exactly hidden.
quote:
“We focused on beef because of its impact on the environment, and because it’s high in saturated fat, which is not good for your health,” said the study’s corresponding and senior author Diego Rose
bio on tulane's site:

His latest research projects examine grass-roots efforts to improve healthy food access in New Orleans and the environmental impacts of U.S. dietary choices.
from the linked article:
quote:
Those below the age of 29 and above the age of 66 were least likely to eat large amounts of beef. Rose said this indicated that the younger generation might be more interested in mitigating the effects of climate change.
“There's hope in the younger generation, because it's their planet they're going to inherit,” Rose said. “I’ve seen in my classes that they’re interested in diet, how it impacts the environment, and what can they do about it.”

I don't buy the exact number but i can see it being something close to this. LOTS of people fell for the anti red meat propaganda and/or can't afford much beef these days

A new study reveals that 50% of the beef consumed in any given day goes to just 12% of the US population. And this heavy consumption of beef has significant health impacts on those Americans who are eating half of our steaks, meatballs, weiners and hamburgers. Current US Department of Agriculture guidelines suggest eating four ounces per day of meat, poultry, and eggs for those consuming 2200 calories per day. But the study reveals some Americans are far exceeding that amount. The USDA reports Americans overall consumed a whopping 30 billion pounds of beef in 2021, which equals almost 60 pounds per person per year. The researchers were “surprised” such a small percentage of people consume such an outsized proportion of beef, study author Dr. Diego Rose, nutrition program director at Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, said in a news release.
I’m not giving up meat. frick off.

Why won't we just eat the bugs like we're told to?

Yeah, no bias from that guy. Filed under "Junk Science."

That’s not the only thing 12% are doing half of

The conspiracy side of me sees this as more "wishcasting" from the powers that be to make us less resistant to the idea of government restrictions on beef.

I'd become a meatatarian before a vegan

Don’t eat the beef but make sure you consume Lucky Charms with a glass of orange juice and toast in the morning and the skim milk. Enough sugar to see you to the mid-morning snack of an apple to see you to lunch where you can eat a salad with fat free dressing. Then you are so hungry at 3pm you eat that bag of chips stored in the desk with the Snickers bar.
Fortunately dinner comes soon with the 4 oz of beef and enough potatoes or pasta to make you full ending the evening with ice cream.
You step on the scale the next morning and wonder why the Dept of Agriculture diet is causing you to gain weight and be boarder line diabetic when you limited your beef intake to 4 oz

So a bunch of “select” meat?
You can produce grass feed/finished beef to grade prime, the management of the cattle is different.

60 lbs is a bunch of beef.
that's 1 steak per week or 4 hamburgers per week.

I eat red meat maybe once a week. A bit more in the winter with soups & stews, but I don’t crave beef…which is strange for an aggy.

Other than burgers or steak at restaurants I think I've bought beef 2 or 3 times in the past few years. I put up a couple hundred lbs of deer meat every year.

Carnivore here, I eat about 1.5-2 lbs. of beef most days.

I eat very little protein and it shows. I really need to eat cleaner. I used to but it's gotten away from me, primarily because I hate to cook.
