People like Trudy White running EBR is the main reason I had enough and moved to Livingston Parish. (Which I said I never would)
I lived in EBR my whole life until 6 months ago when I finally came to the conclusion EBR leaders have shifted and I am no longer heard or welcomed.
Sorry for you guys still hanging in but enough is enough.
We did the opposite 5 years ago. Moved from LP back to BR (originally from Central). I just couldn't stand the traffic and my daughter was already in private school in BR.

As a lawyer, some of us may have concerns of running afoul of the rule of professional conduct concerning saying things about the integrity of a judge and the judiciary.
I hope any BR area lawyer who has seen this play out, several times now, and sees the absurdity of Trudy White being on the bench looks past that rule and makes sure the public, the ODC, the Louisiana judicial commission and the bar association know how terrible Trudy White is as a human being. I hope her electorate acts in kind.

I feel like some of these people are living in an alternate universe.
I need to make a commercial for the campaign. Hey lets make one with me and a criminal and him saying he wont go to jail for long because ill let him out.

Trudy had an unexplained leave of absence not long ago. Wonder what that was all about?
And naturally she was unavailable for comment on the latest "blood on her hands" death.
I thought Tasha with the COA would be brought down with all that happened there....These people like Trudy, Tasha and a few others seem well protected.

Right. She has discretion to adjust bonds. If the people don’t like it, they can vote her out. If she does something unethical, the Judicial Review Board can intervene. If she does something criminal, the attorney general can intervene.
Apparently everything she’s done has been within her legal discretion. Although the bail bond thing a few years ago, i thought that would’ve raised the eyebrows of the judicial board.
Who or what board made her take time off from the bench last year? Wasn't it 60 days? What was the official reason given?

Is there a process to remove her from the bench? Not through an election but maybe a recall?
A judge? Not in this state. A judge is the only public official that can't be recalled.
quote:
RS 18:1300.1
CHAPTER 6-C. RECALL ELECTIONS
§1300.1. Recall authorized
Any public officer, excepting judges of the courts of record, may be recalled in accordance with the provisions of this Chapter.
The State Supreme Court can remove her from the bench if the Judiciary Commission recommends it. According to the LASC's site, only the LASC can discipline a judge, but they can't discipline a judge without the commission's recommendation. The commission is made up as follows.
(1) one court of appeal judge and two district court judges selected by the Supreme Court;
(2) two attorneys admitted to the practice of law for at least ten years and one attorney admitted to the practice of law for at least three years but not more than ten years, selected by the Conference of Court of Appeal Judges or its successor. They shall not be judges, active or retired, or public officials, other than notaries public; and
(3) three citizens, not lawyers, judges active or retired, or public officials, selected by the Louisiana District Judges' Association or its successor.
So, basically, the judges get to pick who sits on the commission responsible for investigating them, only that commission can recommend to the Supreme Court that punishment be handed down, and only the Supreme Court can hand out a punishment to a judge.
Here's how long the LASC's website says the procedure for the commission to respond to a complaint against a judge takes.
STAGE 1 – Screening – 2-4 months
STAGE 2 – Inquiry – 3-6 months after the judge’s response is received
STAGE 3 – Investigation – 6-18 months
STAGE 4 – Hearing Before Hearing Officer – 6-12 months
STAGE 5 – Appearance Before the Commission – 3-9 months
STAGE 6 – Recommendation of Discipline to Supreme Court – 3-6 months.
So, essentially, unless she does something so bad that the Judiciary Commission and the Supreme Court have absolutely no other choice but to remove her from the bench (and make no mistake, there are many far lesser punishments they can use to avoid removing her if they don't have to), the only way to get her off of that bench is to beat her in an election. Good luck with that.
This state is so fricked.

I didn’t know judges couldn’t be recalled. It truly is so fricked that this is what people elected. Terrifying. I don’t understand how she sleeps at night. The senselessness makes me so angry.
