Funny how people get so fired up about federal elections while allowing their state governments to turn to trash.

Seems like a lot more bang for your buck to be a corrupt state politician than a corrupt federal politician. Basically a risk free venture unless you really try to get caught

But these idiots I live amongst will likely vote in favor of additional taxes. Forking idiots.

yep, cause the existing gas tax we got 20 years ago has been put to such good use. I don't think theres a state road in La. that doesn't resemble the surface of the moon.

That gas tax money will be spent on everything except roads before dime one is collected.

Yea I've seen/heard this get no publicity.

You'd think that word would get out to those who were affected (which is a whole bunch of people) and they'd all be livid.

Mostly wiped out from Katrina and Sandy. The insurance works using premiums but the federal government funds the difference. That is why the premiums are so low in low-risk areas (despite having flooded previously).

I don't know about that, but the attorney who works for the State Licensing Board for contractors son certainly does.

did they invest the money poorly or did it all go to claims?

this should have been my first question. if it went to claims that is one thing.

The money goes to whatever it was supposed to go to, but they just take that exact amount out of whatever's budget and do something else with it. Then, the thing that was supposed to benefit from the new tax gets no new money. It just keeps the same budget, and the state moves the extra money elsewhere
