It seems to me that this is a non-story. The son works for a completely different subsidiary of the parent company.

What? The attorney who tossed out the initial contract is the father of a regional manager of the 3rd place contractor. You don't think this has something to do with giving that 3rd place company another shot at getting the contract? Because a guy convicted of racketeering would never do some shady shite.

I thought at first, from this thread, his son won the contract. It appears he did not reward his son.

I think the idea was to kick out the two top, and less expensive, bidders to give his son's employer an expensive contract.

Original winner bid like $65MM 2nd place bid something like $85MM Bankston's son's boss's firm bid $150MM

I take by my previous statement. If those numbers are accurate then there is clearly some shady shite going on.

As I said, I needed more information. The article was very ambiguous with the details.

He is the ONLY ONE i ever hear calling these corrupt people out.

He was all over Jindall, and now he is all over JBE. He has my support regardless of what party he belongs to.

Are you complaining about big government while also complaining about Louisiana citizens not getting a handout from the taxpayers? Are you serious?

He doesn't award the contracts. The licensing board does that. He was able to find a way to toss out the initial contract award and put his son's company back in play.

I'm sure the end game is to find a way for 1st and 2nd place to be disqualified leaving his son's company and their higher bid as the last man standing.

Dude, Larry Bankston went down hard. He is a complete and utter thief, and lost his license and practice and everything he had due to his corrupt greed. I can't even believe he is back in the game. How does this happen? Did JBE get him back, or was he operating before then and under the radar.

I just don't get how someone like that gets reinstated to the bar.

There are WAYYYYYY too many lawyers. Its not like a shortage makes us desperate for more attorneys.

That's unreal.

He was appointed by JBE... wonder how Bankston stands up to that honor code?

The insurance is also paid for by the taxpayers. The fund is broke. Handouts.

Sorta like the police protect their own, or doctors won't testify against a colleague regardless of what actually happened. Lawyers will take care of each other, understanding they might end up in the same position and need to get "let out". It has nothing to do with shortage or overage, or the needs of society. It's about scratching the back of a colleague.

It's amazing that people hardly ever go to jail for this shite.

This is the truth. There are so many "white collar" crimes that hurt a lot more people than petty crimes, yet it just gets overlooked most of the time.

We need politicians because someone has to run the government, but most of them are not worth the dead skin on my balls.

what the frick difference does that make? Burglaries occur everywhere else too. Doesn't mean I'm ok with being robbed.
To clarify, I was commenting on his "I hate this fricking state" post. I wasn't saying it's ok for this type of dirty politics to take place. It happens everywhere.

None of this is much of a surprise. These are the same folks that brought us the Shelter At Home Scam that pretty much was robbery in broad daylight of taxpayer dollars.
