JetBlue Flight Bumps Plane at JFK, 2nd Unusual Incident in Days

A JetBlue flight from New York to Puerto Rico bumped into another plane in the gate area on Wednesday, the second time in a matter of days that two planes experienced an unusual incident at JFK Airport.
Flight 1603 "came into light contact with a parked unoccupied aircraft during pushback," a JetBlue spokesman said in a statement. The plane returned to the gate; no injuries were reported.
The FAA confirmed that the JetBlue plane struck the tail of another JetBlue plane, both Airbus A320s. The agency said it would investigate the incident, and the airline said both planes would go out of service.
"JetBlue Flight 1603 struck the tail of a parked JetBlue aircraft while pushing back from the gate around 7 a.m. at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York. The flight was going to Luis Muñoz Marin International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Both aircraft were Airbus 320. No injuries were reported, and the FAA will investigate," the FAA said in a statement.
Wednesday's incident follows a close call at JFK last Friday, when two planes nearly collided.
In that case, a Delta Air Lines Boeing 737 stopped its takeoff as an American Airlines flight crossed the runway. The FAA subsequently said the planes had passed within about 1,000 feet of each other.
The NTSB is investigating that incident as well.

JFK is playing bumper cars with planes to prepare you for what you'll find once out on the roads

Pushback isn't the pilots. They're still advertising on tinder for their layover.

This is much less worrisome than the AA/Delta incident.

I had an incident at Philly airport years ago. We landed I don't think the wheel was down a second and we went what seemed like straight up again. Everyone was silent.
We flew back up pretty high and long circled the airport. We were only told later that we didn't have permission to land. We were getting ready to collide with another plane on the runway.
I often wonder if the plane was not changed at the origin Akron airport because of mechanical difficulties-if the other plane that we were originally intended to fly had the capability to touch and go like we did in Philly?
Any airline pilots care to answer if this is common? It never made the news because I think everyone moved on and forgot about it.

I would think so
I know the investigation isn't completed, but isn't the AA/Delta incident likely to be 100% pilot gross negligence (by the AA crew)? I keep seeing it referenced like it's some institutional-level issue, but maybe I'm missing something.

This is because the FAA was cyber attacked last week but not made public.

Everything will be OK...the pilot left a note on the windshield wiper of the unoccupied plane with the pilot's insurance info.

That’s a step up from crashing in the Everglades
