re: The Wire, Season One

I actually liked season 2 a bunch though, and yet somehow most show fans don’t seem to like that one.
If you'd been part of the monthly threads related to The Wire on this board some 15 years ago, you'd remember that season 2 was considered the GOAT by most of this board.
I do a re-watch every year. The wife bought me the DVD boxset for Christmas in 2008, and I still listen to the CD that was included - on occasion.
It's not up to me to say that something is the greatest, but it's definitely my favorite series of all time. This is a series that really requires a re-watch and even multiple times to understand the depth of so many characters. I have a different favorite season after every re-watch. Hell, I'm probably the only one that also loves season 5. A lot of people dislike season 4 with the schools, but it's probably my favorite overall.
I'll also add that The Wire basically replaced Oz in the HBO lineup at the time and I was so disappointed in the first episode that I turned if off. Fast forward to a random Wednesday night in 2004 and I stop on HBO sometime during season 3 and become completely hooked after 20 minutes. I immediately update my Netflix ( dvd by mail ) que to add The Wire to the top. I blow through the first 2 seasons and it's been my favorite ever since.

Discount is $10/month for six months.
I just checked mine and it gave me a discount of $20 / month for 4 months.
I received a $10 offer close to a year ago, but I didn't receive the offer that others did a few months ago.

I grew up in that area and saw some pix online before the estate sale.
That interior of the house looks exactly as it did 40 years ago. :ahh:

So Alabama should be penalized for making and losing in the SEC Championship game while 2 loss Oklahoma and I guess potentially Vanderbilt (depending on today’s chaos) get in?
Yes, they should be penalized with a loss. They also should be rewarded with a win by moving to the top of the 2 loss teams. It really shouldn’t be this complicated.

I saw that he’s Mississippi State’s to lose earlier.

That was another offer that did not compute. I believe that he was offered the day after BK was fired.

Starting to worry about Frank
I'm not piling on Frank (and the NOLA kids / coaches love him ), but there's definitely been some evaluation / favoritism questions concerning the signing classes since he returned to LSU in 2022. We didn't notice it when he was gone those 6 years, because Coach O was leading the recruiting charge. Say what you will about O's downfall( and rightfully so), but no one was going to out-recruit him.
CBK had to bring Frank back just to have someone with recruiting connections in state.

Does Lane think he’s overrated or what?
It may sound mean, but 6' 180# WRs grow on trees in this state.
With the thing going on with Frank, it looks like CLK is re-evaluating recruting in state.
And this is the WM homer in me, but if Trez Davis is not good enough to get an offer, then Lane is really changing up the skill position recruiting at LSU.

what does getting processed mean?
It means that LSU told him that they've decided to rescind his scholarship offer and to find another school.

I don't know many of the kids names. Mine graduated 3-5 years ago. I'm still a fan and go to the games. Whereas our talent seemed to favor the defensive side of the ball in the past, this year - it was clearly on the offensive side.

Most of his yards came from screens and short yardage throws that he turned into big gains.
That's because of the offense that WM ran this year. Whenever you're limited ( for whatever reason ) at the QB position, you take what you can. If you liked Joe Sloan's offense, then you'd LOVE the Rebel's O !!!

I think that he recently received an offer from Arkansas. Either way, he’ll probably be back on the market in 2 years.

Broken hand or not, I find it hard to believe that there are 40 other WRs in HS that are better than him - regardless of rank. Hell, I don’t know if LSU has many WRs better than him.

I don't recall seeing this anywhere until this month.
Now, it's everywhere beginning last week.

Part of his defense, will be that his drink was spiked by someone else in the bar. To be the least bit concerned that a man is doing his job in a work truck and where he is parked and then doing wind sprints in the alley before attacking the guy is one of the strangest things ever. It's like when it takes 5 cops to take down a guy on PCP.

Come on! That's a $200 / 20 minute fix on your part if you want a new motor. Even if you don't own tools or are not mechanically inclined, you know someone that can do this easily for a couple of beers while they work. :dude:
re: How long should a pool pump last?
Posted by TigerScratch on 9/15/25 at 11:13 am to LSUlefty
They are now lasting about that long. Amazon has whichever you need for around $200. You can change the motor in 20 minutes with only a socket wrench needed. The pump part (the front that the motor mounts onto is most likely fine. It could be just the start / running capacitor - always keep an extra on hand for only $15. Pop the back end cover (about the size of a quarter) off of the motor and give the drive a spin with a screwdriver. If it wont try to get going, its probably a dead capacitor. If the motor is truly shot, you'd probably have heard the bearings grinding for a while now.
