Former iCarly star Jennette McCurdy has written a memoir titled "I'm Glad My Mom Died," in which she details her life as a child star, her relationship with her mother, and her experiences with Nickelodeon.
In the book, which hits bookstores August 9, McCurdy details the humiliations and mistreatment she endured while growing up in the public eye. According to the New York Times, McCurdy writes about being photographed in a bikini at a wardrobe fitting and being encouraged to drink alcohol by a person she simply refers to as the "Creator."
Although she doesn't reveal the Creator's identity, she may be referring to iCarly creator Dan Schneider, who left the network in 2018 amid rumors that he was "verbally abusive" and "difficult to work with." Some who worked with him also said they felt "uncomfortable when he frequently asked an employee from the costume department for shoulder and neck massages, or texted child actors outside of work hours," according to a Times article published in June 2021.
After both iCarly and Sam & Cat ended, McCurdy says she turned down a $300,000 offer from Nickelodeon in exchange for never speaking publicly about her experiences at the network.

Why isn't anyone trying to cancel Nickelodeon?

Because she's white, and because Nickelodeon is woke.

She’s currently in a wheelchair

300K seems awfully low given a lot of the shite that could likely be said about Nick.
Has Jamie Lynn Spears ever revealed who the actual father of her child is, for instance?

That offer was probably in exchange for an NDA when they parted ways and she was still super young. Like an attempt to hoodwink her.
I imagine many of the child stars thought it was easy money and are controlled by similar NDAs.
Clearly something happened with Dan Schneider

"What finally undid me was when Ariana came whistle-toning in with excitement because she had spent the previous evening playing charades at Tom Hanks's house," McCurdy writes. "That was the moment I broke."
Wonder what other games they played

For some background, McCurdy got into acting because her mother pushed her into it. Her mom had cancer and they needed money, so she felt obligated to. Probably got molested for years as a child actor and once her mom died she got out of it and told them go to hell.

Of course it’s Schneider she’s talking about. When Dan Schneider was receiving a lifetime achievement award at the Kid’s Choice Awards, he wanted Jennette to be at the presentation, but she refused. Instead she streamed out this little jewel as he was getting his award: Look what you’ve done to me.

There's a whole rabbit hole to go down with the Dan Schneider stuff. Lots of smoke if you will. And then you add Tom Hanks into that story...
Google is definitely your friend here.
