Got popped at the end of the Construction Zone yesterday. Road was back to 2 lanes, no cones present, cop was posted up at the ‘End Construction’ sign. 72 in a 55.

Any idea what I’m looking at for the fine? I fully expect $350.

That’s how Jennerette balances the budget, I think your guess will be close.

At least you didn’t break an axle on the new Ambassador Caffery overpass.

Call the number on the ticket and pay to keep it off your record. That's how Jeanerette rolls. Bust people on HWY 90 while their actual town is crumbling.

Next time try to look and see if you can see the town from that spot. Town is going to shite and they are popping people on a four lane highway 4 miles out of town.

You would think the city marshals would be looking for people with warrants instead.

You're looking at $500 plus points on your license. Maybe more if workers were visible.

Gotta watch those assholes. St. Mary parish cops have been worse than Golden Meadow lately too.

This is Louisiana. No points system. Your insurance just goes up.

That’s the plan- I tried a couple of people that might have had connections, but surprise surprise, it seems that small town Louisiana is a tough egg to crack.

Last ticket I got was on 190 outside of Krotz on the way home from the beach in 2021. 77 in a 55…also construction (of course). I sense a pattern I’ll never forget- when I called to ask about getting it changed to non-moving, the woman said ‘just put a note on the money order’

There’s two black cops that are always tucked in the median after the overpass where it goes from 70 to 60

I got popped in that area years ago heading down to Grand Isle. Think it was actually Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Department that got me.

If I remember correctly, they actually gave me a “break” on what the fine initially was going to be.

I've beat one of these. Let me tell you why...

BTW IANAL and this isn't legal advice.

I got flagged doing the actual speed limit, 70mph on the interstate around Bluebonnet in Baton Rouge years ago. I had driven through there the day before and there was no construction zone. It was put up that night.

The law I was ticketed for was 32:63:A

If DOTD finds, through engineering and traffic studies, that any posted maximum speed in the state is greater or less than reasonable or safe under existing conditions, it may declare a new, reasonable and safe maximum speed limit. This limit becomes effective when appropriate signs are posted, either continuously or at specific times as DOTD determines.

I went looking for the traffic study that authorized the change. It didn't exist. I traced it all the way back to the DOTD sign shop for the authorization to put the signs out.

The Dept of Transportation didn't put the signs out, the construction company did.

Bottom line, a private company, without DOTD authorization changed the speed limit and then cops immediately started writing tickets.

I beat the state police in court.

Here's a little secret. NO ONE EVER READS THE RULES. Everyone will shake a rule book at you but 99.9% of the time they have no idea what's in it. Beat them at their own game.
