Call the number on the ticket and pay to keep it off your record. That's how Jeanerette rolls. Bust people on HWY 90 while their actual town is crumbling.
Yep. Jeanerette is shitty with no other real income. They'll be happy to keep it off the record, but you will certainly pay.

Your fine will be doubled for complaining about it on Tigerdroppings.

Overall I think it’s a positive infrastructure improvement but damn there are some head scratchers with that project. Why the hell did they allow access points to the highway like this? Just tie it in with the main exit a 1/4 mile down. Who thought this was a good idea? Just about every time I pass right here I see a near miss.
They'll fix that with a service road eventually. Right now they don't have the money. The project ended south of Celebrity Dr.

Just a reminder: the fact that 10 other people committed the same traffic violation that you did and didn’t get ticketed is not a defense.

Every speeding ticket I had in LA, I showed up on my court date, talked to the prosecutor (or they just grouped everyone up), and it magically became a non-moving violation. Can also get an attorney to do the same (or better) I am sure.

Hopefully, it won't take a trip to court to get it changed to non-moving. It's pretty clear they just want their money. I'm calling tomorrow and will update everyone on the damage. I'm still waiting to hear back from one person I reached out to about getting it knocked down/taken care of, but my hopes are not high. We'll see...

And double fines in construction zones! Pucker up.

At least you didn’t break an axle on the new Ambassador Caffery overpass.
I keep hearing this but I don't notice any issue in my car or in our company truck. Is it a particular lane or dude?

They pulled me over a few years ago on my way back from Grand Isle—doing 70 in a 60 iIIRC. A few weeks after the ticket, I got a letter from the DA’s office. It included a form they wanted me to sign where I agreed to follow local speed laws, and if I sent in a $150 money order, the offense would be reduced to a non-moving violation and wouldn’t affect my insurance. Again this was years ago so YMMV.
edit: or do like another poster said and call the DA's office and ask them to reduce it to a non moving violation in exchange for paying a fine

Probably depends on what their budget deficit is like!

Got popped at the end of the Construction Zone yesterday. Road was back to 2 lanes, no cones present, cop was posted up at the ‘End Construction’ sign. 72 in a 55.
Speeding tickets are piracy. Reckless operation, well defined, is all that is needed.

I haven’t had a speeding ticket or any other moving violation in over 20 years. It’s not that hard.
