Obviously there is some intel that the general public has not been made aware of.
And thank you for all the links! Much appreciated

C'mon man, the community note says it's long standing advice. I remember similar advice in the 80s. There are a *lot* of parts of Japan that would be inaccessible if one road gets cut.

Three days huh…well while it is something it is not near enough for whatever these worldwide countries are alarmed about. It’s got them spooked for sure. If it’s a bad enough event you will probably know it fairly quick. If you have the means and rural location to hide out in you probably have very short few hours to get there before all hell breaks loose and the military shuts down travel. Large cities and outlying communities would become lawless zones very quick.

This is only appearing on internet websites like X and really is nothing more than a reminder of what people should have already. Three days of water, dry foods that won't spoil and underwear type stuff.
Go ahead google this - and calm down

The Reuters article says it was prompted by the PHP glitch. I guess they were worried vulnerable infrastructure - like water or the electrical grid - would be impacted.

LONDON, Oct 23 (Reuters) - The British government advised the public on Friday to keep three days of emergency supplies at home, ?a message it said had been hammered home by ?this week's PHP software glitch, as well as a record-setting summer of heat, drought and wildfires. Governments and businesses worldwide have rushed to secure systems running the ?PHP programming language after flaws were disclosed on Wednesday, forcing ?some services offline and triggering millions of hacking attempts in ?one of the most significant cybersecurity incidents in recent years.

Japs have proven they can live on rice for months... they'll do just fine
Hunt random game when you can, and cook it in rice... you can survive a long time
shite, thats 90% of my diet... rice and gravy goes a long long way... add eggs and flour and you have 97% of what I eat every day
Eggs and flatbread for breakfast
Rice and game for dinner
I'll thrive, and I haven't even mentioned seafood yet!
Id recommend anybody truly worried to raise goats... tons of milk and tons of meat... ask me how I know.. also they're assholes, but they're damn tasty when grilled with a chimichurri
OR live like my Hawaiian family, and cook rice with spam and egg... that's 2 of their 3 meals

When they say 3 days, they really mean 3 weeks or more. If they said 3 weeks or 3 months there wouldn't be anything left in the stores and panic would create more problems. Saying 3 days doesn't really scare most people but will get them to prepare somewhat. They might come back in a week or 2 and say it again though. That would mean the threat is probably legit.

Heading into winter, perhaps? We lived in Takamori or Isehara (Tokyo metro) in the 80s. It snowed, and nearly everyone that drove towards our neighborhood (hundreds of homes) had to leave their cars at the bottom of a hill leading in. We then didn't have power for days, putting stuff from the fridge into the snow, and using the gas stove to heat the kitchen in order to sleep (one parent stood watch at a time to make sure the flame didn't go out.)
zOMG CoNsPiRaCy!!!

This isn't really a bad idea for anywhere.
