I thought it would muddy the waters a bit and was a mistake as worded.

But Louisiana as far as I am aware does not give immunity for personal injuries. For instance, if the city has a stop sign that is completely obstructed, the city could face liability.

I don't see how this is vastly different.

If Johnny has specific case law I am not aware of I'd love to see it

Which were placed as a high value target area

He likely could’ve hit more people in a much less secure area but the symbolism and notoriety of the target was important

I did some reading on the NOPD Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick. Apparently she was previously fired as Oakland, CA police chief. Back in August 2024 she apparently hit two pedestrians with her car while on duty.

That wasn’t what he said. Funbunch said there was a legal obligation to do this. Anytime begging the govt to do something it only impacts those who didn’t break the law.

My mistake they just kept referring to a social media platform. I hadn’t heard the specific one .

A Mandeville house is being search? They said Mandeville, La so I’m guessing the town not the street in Nola.
Any word? Heard from fbi Raia

Has anyone even attempted to sue the city of nola for crime committed by a third party?

I'm not saying no one has attempted in history, but if any attorney agreed to take that case, they must not have anything else going on at their practice

Does anyone know if he had been to New Orleans

The dude was 40 something living in Houston, born in Beaumont (I think). Seems like a safe assumption that he had been to NOLA before.

Then who are the 3 males and 1 female who placed the IEDs around FQ?!

They apparently have footage of the Jabbar placing the IEDs.

The only explanation I can think of for the others that were originally suspects is that it is New Orleans. The "locals" will steal anything not tied down. They probably were trying to steal whatever it was in, but it wasn't something that they thought was valuable and left it.

So no more Mardi Gras. No more tailgates for Saints games. Gotta prevent an attack, right?

Show me where anyone said that? No one said prevent. No one is suggesting anything life changing. You’re arguing for the sake of being a contrarian now.

Risk mitigation is what people are suggesting. This isn’t some intrusive spy software we are talking about. It’s a steel and concrete pole in the ground.

rented his vehicle from the same obscure car rental app

This is the equivalent of saying “the Nola terrorist rented a place on an obscure app called AirBNB.”

Sorry, don’t give a frick if you’ve never heard of Turo, that’s what it’s equivalent to. I wish people would just accept this.

Kinda crazy/lucky he didn't just decide to blow them then. Death toll would have surely been higher.

I thought the same thing but then I did some more digging and I read it was the 1300 block of Mandevile St which is near the Marginy neighborhood.

I don't understand the resistance to something that is relatively cheap and doesn't really interfere with anyone or anything else, other than the slight inconvenience of having to walk around them.

I think it makes sense for the city to put up bollards on the sidewalks in locations where it’s feasible for a vehicle to bypass a barricade, knowing what we know today. I mostly agree that it’s not much of an inconvenience and comes at a low cost (particularly since sidewalk bollards shouldn’t need to be retractable).

At the same time, I have seen some folks argue that it’s a massive failure by the city not having bollards on the sidewalk* in place beforehand. I think that’s asinine. I also think that’s where the “where do we stop?” argument becomes more legitimate.

*In fact, I saw people state that NOLA failed because the bollards had been removed for maintenance, and that they should have had patrol cars blocking intersections where they were removed. Then the video comes out showing the guy driving around patrol cars onto the sidewalk and the narrative changes to “they should have had bollards on the sidewalk!” That’s definitely Monday morning quarterbacking.
