350,000 active vehicles in the US. Hertz is like 450,000. It’s one of the most common car rental companies in our country.

Yea it’s practically Airbnb to the other hotel brands or 3rd parties like Expedia as another comparable

It may not be a household name with every locale or demographic but it’s far from an unknown in the car rental world

Hard to believe anything after the “not a terrorist attack” comment.

Had she said “we cannot say for certain but cannot rule out terrorism at the very very early stage” would believe things?

That’s what should have been said and would have been said by someone not in over their head.

Exactly.

Wasn’t that reported yesterday?

It’s AIRBNB for cars. I used it once. Vehicle quality was not good. Easier to just use a rental car company. But I can see if you’re trying to stay on the DL how Turo would be a good option for you. Much less “bureaucracy.”

Depends on where you use it. Quality can be great. I know people in tourist areas that have a fleet of cars they lease out. They maintain them, etc. Just like Airbnb, you get what you pay for and need to read all the reviews.

But it's definitely not obscure. It's also a way to get the exact kind of car you want.

sigh, again, just how far out do we fix the flaw?

What does this matter?

What if we just put it up where it happened? Why would that matter to you?

What if we made it more difficult to get up on sidewalks at every bollard point?

Are you arguing to do absolutely nothing whatsoever?

If they did that, and I know you hate hearing things like this, do you think the city's legal liability would increase if this happened again, in the same manner?

Someone shouldn't just be able to run down pedestrians on Bourbon Street.

Contrarians like LNCHBOX will argue that they'll just find somewhere else to do it, however, there were plenty of streets not "blocked" by a police car that night and this guy still chose one that was a bit harder to access.

It's obviously a higher value target.

Sorry for questioning solutions that wouldn't actually do anything other than do something for the sake of doing something.

You can see all the chaos this guy did but you’ll never see his 5 Facebook videos.

Was just wondering about this. How are these videos not public?

No I don't think the city is responsible for a rando act of terror happening. I live that to pos lawyers like you to argue.

Don’t think they were posted to Facebook. I would bet they will surface or be released in the near future.

Government doesn't have any legal liability in preventing/not preventing crime.

I'm sure this made sense in your head. Whatever, yall have fun with the newest version of the Patriot Act and useless TSA measures that will totally keep this from ever happening again.

If they do not take reasonable preventative measures, the city would be open to severe legal liability for a future incident.

Absolutely not.
