I've been wake boarding, but when did wake surfing start?

Is that when you go from wake to wake for the free food?

I don’t know when it started, but got pretty big around here about 10-12 years ago.

About 10-12 years ago. It’s fun. I enjoy it more than wake boarding. Pretty much what everyone does now on the lake I grew up on. You hardly see any skiers or wake boarders anymore.

A few years ago but you missed the window. Now you gotta invent something new.

Don't know but they need to catch one of these between the eyes when they weave through fishing boats.

That looks cool.

My boat throws a nice wake similar to that.

May have to try on the way to the prop stop next spring.

Wake surfers are in the same category as the retards that gun it in their F250s down flooded streets

It's been around for about a decade at least. Funny that people bitch about the waves when a dumbass in an I/O going 10 MPH throws just as big of a wave or a 30 foot cruiser going 22 MPH. No one talks shite about them though

Not long after someone caught their first toe side faceplant.

It was around early to mid 2000s. We would surf later after everyone was too tired or sore to wakeboard. When the wakeboarders of that era got too old to ride, wakesurfing became a lot more popular.

If this was true, why would people spend so much money on wake boats that feature ballast tanks and marketing hype about throwing the biggest wave on the lake? And a boat going 10mph is usually in a very limited no-wake zone for a very limited amount of time.

As far as 30 foot cruisers, how many are out there to even be considered a problem? They’ve been around forever and they just don’t have the negative impact that the more affordable wake boats have. Also, the number of lakes that can accommodate a 30 ft cruiser is limited while wake boats can operate almost anywhere with a boat ramp.

My other big gripe with wake morons is that they inevitably blast new country over loudspeakers. No one except other narcissistic tools want to hear a pop country song about “the swimmin’ hole” or “the lake”.

Face it - no one likes wake boaters except themselves but I wonder about even that sometimes.
