It seems more people lately have no shame for being fat. I see more people riding those fat mobiles at the grocery store who have 4-6 inches of fat hanging over each side of the seat. It's a disgusting sight to behold.

Less than 5% are actually lifting weights in a progessive manner consistenly enough to accumulate any real muscle, atleast enough to throw off the BMI to any significant degree
I wish I had some muscle mass to do that for me.

if less than 10% of your population is doing any form of lifting what do you expect. Less than 5% are actually lifting weights in a progessive manner consistenly enough to accumulate any real muscle, atleast enough to throw off the BMI to any significant degree
so bmi is accurate for 90-95% of the population
why would we not use it to track the population as a whole?
all the guys in here talk about looking like a skeleton at certain weights, yet would love to look like they did in HS.....newsflash....that skeleton look you talk about....thats the look you had in HS and you didnt look like a skeleton, you looked in shape.
These guys have no idea how hard it is to get big. During Covid I did a ton of running since the gyms were closed, and since I've worked hard on my strength. I've gained 15 lbs and put like 50 lbs on my squat, for example, and was already lifting before that. My BMI is between 25 and 26. If you are going to be lean at 28 or 29 BMI, you're going to be massive and you are going to be doing a shite ton of volume, not going to a Planet Fitness 3 days a week for 45 minutes.
These guys have no clue.

I definitely fall into the obese category 5'8 215 now...was around 235. I changed my portions up, limited soft drinks to basically a few bourbons a week, and started working out again. I lost 10 pounds in a hurry.
Now I'm intermittent fasting and it's worked well for me. Super easy and it keeps me from being a fatass in breakfast or lunch. I do eat a nice breakfast on Saturdays with the family. Overall I'm 15 pounds down and working my way toward 190.

It's easy to pound a carb based diet
Seems like the Japanese, their rice consumption and their 5% obesity rate have that figured out.

I know a lot of doctors, but I don’t know a single obese doctor. I’ve never seen an obese doctor. Lack of training doesn’t equal lack of knowledge about basic diet and exercise concept. Don’t blame doctors not knowing any better, blame patients for choosing to make poor choices. A doctor can’t force a patient to take their pills.

Ehh most of my veggies are canned (light sodium) or frozen. I’m not obese. I waste too much if it’s fresh because I just can’t eat it fast enough and I’m not interested in going to the grocery multiple times a week.

Keep it up. The highest I got was 190 and hover around 150-155 now and have been at that for years.
It sucks but basically I drink just water or black coffee. Anything else is a waste of calories.
I drink beer in the weekends, but if you are really trying to lose weight, I’d stop alcohol until you hit your goal weight. I gave it up for 10 months to lose the weight.

it was actually 8.9% in 2016 LINK
the above was dept of labor so prolly more accurate
this one by gallup of 1000 people(56% women) had 15% atleast twice per week LINK
but how many of that actually even lift anything more than a 5lbs dumbbell? how many truely train?
just look at the OT, make a thread...i bet less than 20% say they lifted weights atleast 2x per week every week for the last 3-4 months. thats just 2x per week and its almost all guys on here.
make a thread and see for yourself.

exactly. then they are suddenly shocked when they have a body fat test done. If you FFMI isnt in the 22+ catagory, you are not throwing the BMI off

Could also be hormonal imbalance in one or the other

I don't really eat a lot of veggies except Kale and Cauliflower. I'm on restricted carb but enjoy Kale. I'm on the kick of not only limiting my intake of processed foods, but either growing them myself or knowing the farmer who does. I screwed up and grew 25 kale plants hydroponically thinking I would eat them all. I didn't eat half of them because they kept growing and growing.
But I did grab them and use them as rabbit feed to feed my meat rabbits and chickens. So while we're out here trying to grow our own, the fatasses are the ones buying $350 of crap from the grocery store on EBT. 'Food insecurity' is a myth in the United States. They have more access to fresh produce than we do because to them it's free. Trust me... they're out there with full carts while the people having to pay for both carts are buying minimal items. Poor EBT people having to buy fast food and order DoorDash.

You must not be around doctors. I work in healthcare and of about the 25 or so I’ve seen in person on the floors, 10-12 of them are overweight. Including 1 that probably needs motor scooter at the grocery store
