you guys get offended by such odd things the "feels like" temperature takes into account wind speed and relative humidity, which impacts how biological things perceive temperatures, thus "feels like"
81 degrees with a nice breeze and low humidity is certainly more bearable than no breeze and high humidity, no?
actual temperature is for non biological things, as water doesn't care about humidity, it just cares about the actual temperature of the air whether it freezes or not

El Niño is usually no match for Texas in July/August. “Heat wave” is now called “Heat dome” to sound more ominous but you can usually count on it.

The humidity took a nice break here on the panhandle. Good 10 day stint after over a week of humidity hell. Looks like were back today, but not until the sun comes out.

yeah its hot out there now....
but we were doing a house reno summer of '23....never felt anthing like it. Miserable summer, 1 month straight of 100 degree temps, no rain. hot as balls. All Louisiana summers will be compared to that one for me.
