Holy frick. Their healthcare system has to be in shambles at this point. Their mortality rate remains at around 10%
I dont mean to sound rude or disrespectful, but by the time this is all over. Italy may only have about 2 surviving individuals alive over 65.

I think the average age of the people that died in Italy is around 80-81 last I checked
I haven't seen any updated data
They just have a lot of really old people there

This is now the four day in a row that new cases have come in under the peak. There has been some fluctuation but you hope this is the flattening and the decline will start soon.

They don't have a poor healthcare system, relatively speaking.
In other words, many other countries have significantly worse systems and don't have 10% mortality rate, so something else must be to blame.

The curve is cases, not deaths. They won't move in a proportional manner for some time.

Logic says that one side effect of an overwhelmed healthcare system is inaccuracy in what it is reporting.
It's easy to know whether someone died, not so easy to know what killed them. Result being that it's almost certain that deaths due to COVID are being overstated there.

While Italy's healthcare system is usually ranked very high in the world one could always argue bias and/or criteria issues. One thing you can't argue with is their life expectancy is the 6th highest in the world and only behind Switzerland if you remove the Asian countries. The US is 46th in the world with a LE of 79.11 years compared to Italy's 84.01. A lot of that is certainly weight but their healthcare can't be "poor".

Not poor compared to Somalia. But poor compared to most industrialized countries, especially in rural areas.
Check your facts.
