Jesus frick, you Trumpkins are so delusional that you actually believe this

I'm more surprised they believe the other side prays.

I have successfully used it clinically in the chronic form of Lyme disease for 30 years at a dose of 200 mg or even 400 mg/day.

It always blows my mind that when statements like these are made that medicine isn't already able to show a comparison of transmission rates of those that chronically use the drug to prove if it is preventative.

Found the problem. This is the U$A. Big pharma will need to roll out a name-brand version that costs $10,000 a dose before FDA will approve anything.

They need to change the formula by one molecule that makes it react 1/1000th of a second faster. or freshens your breath or something and get a new patent. Can't have all that generic stuff cutting into the profits.

I don't know if it is a great number of people but I guarantee more than a handful feel this way.

Rachel Maddow 100% feels this way.

My guess is Italy doesn't have a pool of attorneys that would love nothing more than to bring malpractice suits against docs / hospitals if this doesn't work right.

Our legal system will ensure we don't do this until we know 100 percent it will work.

She was visibly disappointed when the USNS Mercy made it to LA in a week, not the "weeks" that she predicted.

Imagine being disappointed a hospital ship made it in to help people faster than you expected.

The generics have only been out for a short time. You had to buy Plaquenil until around 2018.

They would rather people die than see this drug improve the situation.

Insurance bruh. Some will cover 3 month supply some won't. It is my friend not me. She runs out in 2 weeks.

I usually have to go to 2-3 pharmacies to find my script that is a different medication. The shite doesn't just magically appear when you go to the pharmacy. Pills have to be manufactured. When you have someone promoting a magical bullet it hurts those that take it for a proven legitimate reason. I don't like people creating runs on drugs. That's all

Based on what high-quality data? The French studies have been garbage, and surely you realize that based on your medical training.

Speaking of basing things on data, what data (regardless of quality) do you base your accusation on?

Have you read the manuscript of the new French study that OP has been fapping to constantly for the past 24 hours? It’s an observational, non randomized study with no placebo arm and no control. It cherry picked the healthiest patients (most younger than sixty, only 15% had a fever, very normal/good viral signs). Their fatality rate (what really matters in a study on this drug) was what we would expect in patients treated at the hospital, or maybe even a little worse considering how healthy the patient cohort was. You could replace hydroxychloroquine with a snickers bar in that study and probably get the same results. Impossible to know the true effect of the drug without a placebo control arm. All it takes is a basic understanding of medical literature to see this is a garbage study. I’m surprised OP (2nd/3rd year med student) doesn’t realize this.

Trump said they are giving to 1100 patients now and tracking results.
Doctors are probably hesitant to give it without FDA approving for this use. Worried about getting sued.

Although, doctors could prescribe it...

Thank you! Someone who's not a complete fricking idiot and understands what evidence is.

I would add that the doctor behind the French study has a documented history of fraud and data manipulation.

That's so fricking stupid and untrue. I hate Trump but hope like hell he is right. I have zero faith in anything he says but if a real scientist says it works, like Fauci, I believe it.

I think there's little to lose in trying it and we should go for it. I personally don't GAF if Trump is right. Good, it would be a first for him.

Most people care more about lives than whether some dipshit politician is right.

you wanna know what's funny? Andexxa got FDA approved with basically the same fallacies you outlined here and can charge hospitals 60k/dose lmao

There are placebo-controlled, randomized, double blind studies showing safety of hydroxychloroquine in covid-19 patients?

Hcq is a drug that had been around for decades and is a safe drug.

It has been used to treat a number of different ailments.

This had been stated multiple times. It's cousin, chloroquine, has been around even longer and is safe.

Not sure what you are harping on.

It has been my contention that this drug is helpful the earlier you take it in an illness.

Once you get ards and pulmonary edema, it's kinda at a different level.

Anyways, I have suggested a mechanism of action on multiple previous threads.

And in China, the rheumatoid and lupus patients who were talking this didn't get sick. That is one of the reasons for this bring used.

And why they're are so many studies using it as a prophylaxis.

Italy's healthcare has been ranked 2nd in the world by some agenda-driven healthcare orgs for years now.

obviously the rankings weren't accurate

While you can argue about bias in the rankings the thing you can't argue is their life expectancy is significantly better than the US, so arguing their healthcare system sucks is pissing in the wind.

Italy ranks 6th in life expectancy at 84.01 years (HK is #1 at 85.29) where the US is 46th at 79.11 years.
