you wanna know what's funny? Andexxa got FDA approved with basically the same fallacies you outlined here and can charge hospitals 60k/dose lmao

There is also a reason ER docs who have read the literature on it refuse to prescribe it

Found the problem. This is the U$A. Big pharma will need to roll out a name-brand version that costs $10,000 a dose before FDA will approve anything.

They need to change the formula by one molecule that makes it react 1/1000th of a second faster. or freshens your breath or something and get a new patent. Can't have all that generic stuff cutting into the profits.

That is truth. Want to see how much influence Big Pharma has with FDA? Watch the Netflix doc about Berzinsky. A doctor in Texas, has 80% success rate when treating certain cancers.
FDA tried to steal his patent, harassed him for years.

Have you read the manuscript of the new French study that OP has been fapping to constantly for the past 24 hours? It’s an observational, non randomized study with no placebo arm and no control. It cherry picked the healthiest patients (most younger than sixty, only 15% had a fever, very normal/good viral signs). Their fatality rate (what really matters in a study on this drug) was what we would expect in patients treated at the hospital, or maybe even a little worse considering how healthy the patient cohort was. You could replace hydroxychloroquine with a snickers bar in that study and probably get the same results. Impossible to know the true effect of the drug without a placebo control arm. All it takes is a basic understanding of medical literature to see this is a garbage study. I’m surprised OP (2nd/3rd year med student) doesn’t realize this.

Not to mention the drug is a life saver ( Letter from ACR) for people w lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. Left unchecked, there would be a run on the drug like TP.

It’s incredibly frustrating that while some MDs are risking their lives to help; other MDs/ providers are hoarding Rx on the off chance it might help.

There are many many people in america who are actively hoping and praying right now that this drug is ineffective, because they want a certain person to look bad for offering it as a potential treatment.

Good Lord. Not every single action taken by every single person in the country is motivated by how they feel about Trump. Take a break.

You are absolutely correct and someone says differently then that individual is a liar.

There are physicians and scientists that are willing to let people die just so that they can stick it to Trump.

Ask the governors of Michigan and Nevada who banned the drug, as well as journalism majors making up the WH press corps who are openly arguing with the president on whether or not there is hope.

Also, it's funny you blindly follow the scientific "authorities." WHO, for instance, ran a misinformation campaign back in January on the behalf of the Chinese Politburo, hastening the spread of the virus globally.

@WHO
Preliminary investigations conducted by the Chinese authorities have found no clear evidence of human-to-human transmission of the novel #coronavirus (2019-nCoV) identified in #Wuhan, #China????.

I mean, I am ideologically opposed to CCP and the WHO's fervent support of them.

If it were Obama as president, and Republican governors banning the drug, I would feel the same way about it being banned in states. Given that this is a global health crisis, and there seems to be a rationale to its potential efficacy in "flattening the curve", if physicians and patients want to use the drug, I don't see why not.

You are dumb. This isn't a new drug.

Correct, it is drug that has been around for many decades and has notable side effects. As with many drugs that may help certain people with certain conditions, these same drugs can be deadly for people with other conditions.

I do not know if this drug has been tested in other situations beyond what it was intended to treat. Maybe it has but before millions and millions of doses are just handed out, I would urge some caution.
