DA isn’t my buddy at all brother. Not here, my experience with them is almost unbelievable. They are definitely a huge part of the problem.

I wasn’t a huge fan of Ashley as she could sometimes be a raging bull bitch. That said I appreciate her tons now because she was effective and at least tried.

The simple truth is that as a city becomes minority controlled, crime becomes a bigger issue but less a priority with political leadership so it always becomes a big problem.

Minority women with kids are the real problem, they want crime down but they fear their kids being arrested etc, and often distrust police based upon prior history etc. So they oppose effective police work. It’s a “catch 22” situation. Lots of rallies etc after every kid and bystander gets killed at the same time effective police work and prosecutions are being curtailed etc. Criminal defense bar is now more politically powerful that DAs office. That’s never a good thing for any city.

All the big California cities are perfect examples and proof of this. New Orleans is exhibit “A”. We are just a few high profile murders away from complete white middle class flight which will only make it worse. Mobile is on borrowed time

There are no laws that you can pass to fix this. We could harshly enforce the existing laws and put more people in jail. That's about it.

Shame, too, because Mobile has some beautiful areas (especially around USA) and is absolutely booming industry-wise.

It’s refreshing to live in a city that takes crime serious.

You get what you vote for. Dem leadership has played soft on crime for 5 years now. Mobile still better than N.O. but it's getting bad.

Keep voting for democrats who protect criminals and this will get worse. Thank a dem when you can for this ever increasing crime and needless murder of the innocent.

"Criminals" have ruined every city of any size in the South. They're not just allowed to do so, they're given support to do so. Time to wake up.

Maybe it would be better to have some easy online 5 dollar or less registration just for conceal carry and a card. I would rather have something I can have in my wallet so I can use it to travel to other states that have reciprocity anyway.

States that don’t have constitutional carry aren’t going to grant reciprocity to your state for a $5 online license. Some states like MS have constitutional carry for everyone.

The problem is that the penalties for acting the arse aren’t harsh enough,

The Dem candidate for mayor has vowed to stop on the rights of the people in her city and despite it being illegal, set up "gun free zones" which I'm sure the thugs will respect.

Yep, all my buddies have moved to Fairhope etc. I wish I had done it when it was more reasonable but Mobile is a city of tremendous unreached potential.

All the power is with city council and if you ever go to one of those meetings…

The DA is another issue completely but look to see who some of his big supporters are and you know it all.

It’s simply a political and demographic problem.

The people inclined to live in an urban area in 2025 won’t vote for strict DAs even in the south. The only exception is Miami which is unique due to the Cuban population.

So a DA advocating for community policing gets elected and criminals who should be on their third felony are out walking around doing hood rat stuff sitting on a pending misdemeanor case that gets delayed and plead down.

Meanwhile the rot accelerates with half the population pretending everything is fine while leaving notes begging criminals not to break their window when they rob their car and the 25% of people who want to fix it give up and move only to be replaced by more people who vote for social workers instead of police.

We also need to make sure possession of a stolen firearm is a felony with enhanced penalties etc and prosecutors do their jobs and prosecute them.
A felon in possession of a firearm or the use of a firearm in commission of a crime should be mandatory life.

After a shooting and murder at a children’s dance recital at the Saenger Theater in Mobile and multiple gang style shootings and shoot outs all over every park in Mobile, it’s apparently legal for every criminal to carry now and cops are saying there is nothing to do about it unless they are a convicted felon so they quit doing roadblocks etc.

Mobile is probably one of the worst examples for this.

That was a case of “disrespect” and the guy turned himself in.

Mobile police are constantly raiding gang hovels and ain’t no Mobile DA letting this trash walk.

It’s not a case like NOLA literally just permitting this shite to happen. Hell, one of the shooters from that shooting on sage was arrested in Ohio. MPD does not give a frick and will let you be if you’re a good ol boy, but frick you up if you’re acting with malice.

The problem is all the trash that moved her after Katrina.

Thugs are gonna thug, legal carry or not. Blame officials who allow the ferals to run wild. For some reason leadership is afraid to make it more difficult on criminals. The good people suffer.
