There are a number of claims from all around the country that are saying that deaths are being marked as COVID when they are either not confirmed or not actually COVID. These are both statistical and anecdotal. Unfortunately, no one has been able to take the time to truly pull the data and parse it out for accuracy. That being said, if you were to pull out just Cancer Deaths for the month of April in most "hot spots" there are experts that are pointing to the real fact that cancer as a cause of death has dropped statistically by 10-30 % in several areas. That is the red flag that has caused people to question the data and the total numbers. This and the fact that NYC and other areas have admitted that they lumped in cases that they assumed were COVID but did not have the time to accurately confirm. I get this from a funding situation, you want to cover as much as possible, but from a public health strategy, this really needs to be re looked at if they are using these numbers to forecast model.

No we are not. The death toll really is something that needs to be looked at Let's look at Cali who has a lockdown indefinitely

2000 deaths (if real) out of 39mil ppl/illegals/homeless

That's .0000512821%

I can see why this is so scary and the need for a lockdown

This is what happens when the Federal government offers to pay 20% more for COVID and presumptive COVID patients.

This was always going to be the next talking point. First, it was that there would be no or minimal deaths here. Then, people start dying and then they are fake deaths. You will go to any lengths to rationalize it.

Still waiting on the bodies of those spring breakers. I’d also settle for pictures from Italy labeled as NY or hurricane pictures labeled as Covid.

Why are you comparing provisional data from 2020 to final data from 2020?

States don't report typical causes of death to the CDC in real time.

To be fair, I've always said it should be measured as excess deaths. It's how all health crises should be measured.

ETA - I don't get caught up in how the death is labelled one way or the other, that's too political. I'm strictly talking about the net impact on deaths over a year or so.

The actual data just NYC has already collected for March 8 to April 11, 2020 reveal 325% more deaths than normal!

NYC had 11,900 deaths in excess of normal during this period and only 10,261 have been attributed to Covid.

NYC is still 1,600+ deaths over normal even after ALL the Covid deaths counted for those dates!

I don't know about the rest of the country but NYC's official count is likely too low instead of too high.

I don't doubt that in hard hit areas like NYC, where they were overwhelmed with cases, that some deaths were classified incorrectly. Many of these people died at home, or worse yet under a bridge. If the family said they were running fever and had labored breathing, I don't know if they would even feel it was smart to burn a test kit or put the extra load on their labs. The hospitals saw what was happening and were desperate for help. So you call it Covid and move on. The poor soul is bound for the pauper's cemetery either way.

But at the same time, what if the virus hit a nursing home? Many people would die of Covid that would normally die of heart disease, strokes, Alzheimer's, cancer, or the flu. And the same thing would happen in the general community. The virus beat a lot of the normal "causes of death" to the punch. My guess is that's where the bulk of the differential in "causes of death" is coming from.

But if you want to believe it's some kind of Democrat conspiracy, rave on! My Reynold's Aluminum stock can use all the help it can get.

Yes.

It will be interesting to see the conspiracy theorists on here when the CDC revises COVID deaths upward in a few months.

Far more important - how many current COVID-19 deaths were future heart disease, cancer, etc deaths that were pulled forward?

Very important point. A year, 3 years and 5 years from now we will learn it all balanced out. COVID inflicted the most death in a group that was closest to death. Rates will drop in traditional end of life categories for high age individuals and then return to normal. The statistical outlier deaths in the younger population will be replaced by the removal of accidental deaths.

There will be a mini baby boom for couples without kids and probably a reduction for couples locked up with kids.

We are currently at 0.00003% of the global population has been killed by COVID.

It seems regular flu deaths is around 0.0052% globally

Spanish Flu will not get touched by COVID - low estimates was 1% of global pop to 5.4% of global population of 1918.

Yes, doctors across the nation are defrauding the federal government in order to prolong their loss of revenue.
