The 65K deaths that are being shown as CoVid deaths by various website and news outlets are coming directly from the individual states as reported by each state's Dept. of Health on a daily basis.

And what codes are they using? The same codes the CDC is using that include typical pneumonia deaths?

It’s the same data that eventually gets to the CDC so the point is still valid.

But there is a built-in delay even with the same coding.

I'm not sure why you're still hung up on CDC flu deaths and ICD coding. The logic used with flu death estimates are what you're seeing in real time with COVID-19, by and large. As long as that's consistent, we will be able to make a fair comparison across the board.

thats fine. I just don’t like the idea of including standard pneumonia cases. With as much publicity as this thing is getting do we really need to assume cases are being mislabeled? Everyone with pneumonia in the hospital is getting tested probably multiple times.

The CDC can “estimate” and run their models after it’s all said and done. For now they should only be counting actually confirmed cases.

Is there any evidence this is happening?

I’m not interested in the comparison to flu. Which is an already inflated number. I’m interested in the true number of COVID deaths.

I know you didn't direct this to me, but I'll take it as a reasonable response to my question above.

To date the CDC has reported about 50k deaths that involve COVID.

I don’t know what the media is doing or how they are calculating anything.

A few things are true.

A) It's likely there are more deaths attributable to COVID-19 than the current tally.

B) It's likely the mortality rate of COVID-19 is substantially lower than the case fatality rate based on background antibody tests that are being done.

C) There are a substantial amount of COVID-19 deaths that are being "pulled forward." In other words, people who would have died in the next year or so that are dying now. If 20,000 more people than normal die in New York through June, you must also account for how much fewer people than normal die in the next 6 months.

This seems like the logical approach to examining the data

Using the LA County antibody study, they found 3-5% of the population with antibodies.

So, if LA County has a 4% infection rate among 10 million people and 1,100 deaths, it's about a 0.275% mortality rate.

Which is generally consistent with Covid being 2-3 tines deadlier than the flu. That's where most of the numbers seem to be settling.

I mean, people can judge that rate how they want, but that appears more and more likely the mortality rate. CA's biggest issue would be if Covid spread rapidly in the 96% of uninfected people.

If the lag explains the difference completely then ok I accept that. But I’m not sure either of us know if that is the case.

Meh, still shows overall ~3,500 more deaths in that one month period.

more like 3k, but Ill give you the 3500....that is slightly different than approximately 11k that are being attributed to COVID.....dont you think.

Dont get me wrong, I don't disapprove of the hysteria, my business is going gangbusters because of it, but come on man this is pretty telling.

That graphic looks like it was created by some hardcore right propaganda machine, but whatever pushes peoples opinions I guess is correct. But we are the "sheeple"
